Outrageous that Connor was put forward when he was reading a script. And it was a bit rich the bit about "shouldn't children be allowed to be children", considering his Mother has denied her son a childhood.

Conors mum is openly competitive. I don't get the distaste for her over Oscars family, who are also competitive. Is it because she's not an intellectual?

So glad I found this thread. Was about to rant about Connors mum but you beat me to it. His mum can't write his "script" forever but Lara will always have an IQ higher than Einstein.

Far far below the level of child genius, this reminds me of a mum I was talking to the other day whose DS is in my DS1's class. Ds1 has had 7 'learning concerns' in Year 7, all for forgetting stuff. This other boy's Mum was telling me he hasn't had any - because she packs his bag for him everyday. Now I remind DS1 to look at his timetable and check the school website but I would never pack his bag for him, because otherwise how would he learn?
