Nobody else has made the thread yet, so thought I would.

Jack Carroll or Attraction for the win, I hope.

I don't think any non British act should be allowed to apply. It is for British acts. Or supposed to be.
The winner performs at the British Variety Performance, for the Queen.
But the act is not british.

I think it is just Simon Cowell and the BGT producers getting desperate, for viewers, and allowing acts form other countries to audition. I think that is wrong.

I do not think that British acts shoudl be allowed to participate in a talent competition in other countries - Germany, Australias etc.
If you have a local talent competition, then you should have to live locally.
If you have a Carnival Queen/ similar, then the girl should live in that village. Its's no good having a carnival queen for .... Dorset/Cornawall, that comes from Sheffield/Leeds etc.

My point remains the same for all these kinds of things.

Oblomov - Very interesting point BUT what if they lived here for a long time etc.? I am not British, live in the UK since I am 17 and feel more British than German. If I was about to go on the format (Das Supertalent in Germany, BGT over here) I would always choose the British format over the German TBH.

MissMarplesBloomers · 09/06/2013 16:52

Our country a wide and varied history of circus and variety performers from all over the world coming here to entertain us and the Queen through this show and others like it.

WE have talent because WE encourage and welcome it regardless of origin......I'm glad Attraction won.

If a British act had been better / got more votes they'd have won. End of.

Oblomov · 09/06/2013 17:42

Blogging, you live here, so of course you can apply.
If acts come over here, just for the competition, and do not reside here, then that should not be allowed, that is what I am talking about.

MelanieCheeks · 09/06/2013 19:23

Why not? I'm sure there's been acts from Ireland in the past that have taken part. I know the name is "Britains Got Talent" but is there really any compelling reason why a TV reality show should have those sort of restrictions on it? Why, exactly? If it had a different name, would that make a difference?

mrsjay · 09/06/2013 20:20

all this fury of Attraction winning and not being brittish is [confusing] they entered (they must have a brittish address to enter anyway ) and they won I think they are great, I did like Jack too but I wanted Attraction to win,

mrsjay · 09/06/2013 20:20

A french guy was in it last year or the year before from france

MissMarplesBloomers · 09/06/2013 21:26

Exactly Mrs Jay

salsmum · 10/06/2013 01:14

I must admit I too loved Attraction and am pleased that they won.
Just thought I'd mention that I love David Waliams and actually think he makes BGT...I for one have been in stitches watching him embarrass S,C. with his gay passes...I hope he comes back!.

Chipstick10 · 10/06/2013 12:41

I don't think they should've been allowed to enter. It's britains got talent.

mrsjay · 10/06/2013 12:44

well TBH it is simons own doing that Atttraction won he seems to think Britains talent consists of young singers with a sob story , or little girls who can sing like beyonce, least a variety act won. I think they are great and I heard this morning they want to put a show together.

donnie · 10/06/2013 13:01

Oblomov - what is your view on non Brits who play for English football teams?

amazingmumof6 · 10/06/2013 13:06

it's been said upthread that their entry was accepted therefore there's no need to be sour about it!

and I honestly have no idea how it could have been faked or be about politics - Hungary is not a desirable ally to have, we lost every bloody war by being on the wrong side for hundreds of years!

ah, the thought of Hungary as the strong protector of the UK Shock Hmm Confused Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

can some of the foreign-o-phobes just try and be happy for some amazingly talented people for once?
sheesh

Davros · 10/06/2013 15:20

Footballers are different, it's their JOB and any number can play anywhere throughout the EU. It's still restricted on players from further afield.

TSSDNCOP · 10/06/2013 15:33

Well if it wasn't Attractions job before, you can bet it will be in future.

mrsjay · 10/06/2013 16:23

, you can bet it will be in future.

they are going to be huge and good for them
