DCs going MAD! like at Christmas, she can't wait.

mind you, nor can I.

and gory games straight after that. love rattus and dave Lamb together.

Anyone elses DCs (or anyone else!) waiting in anticipation?

I loved Mat as Kevin McCloud. He got that spot on. I didn't see the first half, need to watch for the repeat.

they are such good actors arnt they? their impersonations are better than the real people!!

Mat as Kevin, the apprentice presenters, the masterchef guys, Brian Cox,Bob Hale (jon snow),gok wan, and Ben is the best Henry Vlll EVER.

I had Ben as Henry in my mind when I read Wolf Hall and Bringing Up the Bodies, which was a little bizarre.
I love Ben and Jim as Jon and Greg, they're just perfect.

you know that prog 'all over the place USA?' on cbbc? was looking at the end titles and Larry Rickard writes some of the sketches in it, AND Richard Webb who writes the songs for HH writes the songs for this too!!

i thought the songs were clever and had a familiarity about them and i was right!

I thought the Alexander song was a bit Coldplay-ish?

The wink. Sigh.

I don't know that show at all marj I look out for it. Richard Webb is so talented, isn't he? Those pastiches are so cleverly done.

I thought Coldplay and maybe Radiohead (I probably get walloped by Radiohead fans for this) as well, hortense I assumed it's meant to reference the sort of big headlining act at a festival style band iyswim.

seriously, Richard Webb should get a grammy or something for his songwriting, ita brilliant, not just the lyrics, but the musical arrangement too.

they were showing the series 5 songs ona loop on cbbc and we're loving the songs more and more.

Alexaaaaaandeeerrr.....

They've had the karaoke of some of this series' songs on Red Button this weekend - you can spot the embedded titles in the lyrics more easily!

I always put the subtitles anyway on the programmes but it was nice to see the words with appropriate symbols following the words!

loved following all the Simon and Garfunkel references on Vikingland. sheer genius.

Yeah, we all thought it was a bit meh, even the song.
There isn't enough Mat in this series for me. Sad

I've thought this series, and esp. the songs, aren't as good as previous series - but maybe that's just because my expectations were so high.

edam there've been some brill sketches but I know what you mean.

at the end of the day its for DC anyway!!!!

but we were watching a prog today on Cleopatra and knew more about Alexaaaaaannderrrrr this time after the song!!

I think the 20th century after the WW2 had been a bit weird to take in?

but the songs IMO have been as good the previous ones.

I liked all the songs so far except for the last one which was ok but a tad boring.
dd was singing the Dickens/Smiths song to herself the other day which I was very pleased about. That is one of the real benefits of HH for me, to be able to introduce my dc to the music of my youth without them rolling their eyes at me.

Bloody HH! talk about a stupid death....nearly killed me!

watching a music channel and the Smiths 'this charming man' came on. me and DC were laughing so much, DC shouting 'mum its the charles dickens song' over and over again.

Im athsmatic and was laughing so much i started choking so much i nearly passed out! crawling to find my inhaler.

the aztec priests and vikingland have the same effect!

stuppid deaths, stupid deaths.....

Looking through all these posts. I am also finding the last couple of episodes a bit meh , the song wasn't really very good, felt it was a bit 'lazy' IYKWIM.

And what's going on with Laurie's face? he looked really odd today as Brian Cox, not the make up, his actual face, he looked like he had hayfever or something!

What did today's song reference? Does anybody know?
Yes, lots of Mat today, that's always good.

Was it like a tribute to 70's glam rock or something?

I was thinking the Sweet/T-rex/Bowie/Slade, ?
