I think we know that DT was the detective in the Sandbrook case but could be wrong. If not I like your thinking foxsake.

I think Ellie's son is involved, when she interviewed Susan she said " I am a mother and I would do anything to protect my son" . I think she will have to and DT will once again be compromised by his staff.

I picked up on that too!

I have read broadchurch thread and think tomorrow will be all the more exciting for the different theories! Think we need some "i solved the broadchurch murders" for those who are correct!

I either think will mellor did it and also was somehow responsible for sandbrook which is how he knows so much but is using his (pretend) psychic powers to avoid suspicion

I also think it could've been susan. Who killed her first child out of jealousy when she found her in bed with her husband - possibly in whitby! Then found daughter 2 in sandbrook and finally cAme to kill nigel but got danny by mistake while they were poaching and is now trying to frame nigel

Ooh unless she is beths real mum and she killed danny to protect him (as she said about nigel "he's his fathers son" so he'd be his grandfathers boy and she'll have stopped the link there.

My theory is Joe, arranging a meeting between the boys. Tom didn't go, Danny was blackmailing Joe for a gay affair with the vicar or some dodgy computer stuff. But the more I think about it, the less any of it makes sense.

I have no theories but have greatly enjoyed the threads on here!

My only worry is that it will be either like and agatha christie reveal where some big clue is put in at the reveal, always used to piss me off and the reason I didn't read many agatha christies!

Or, that there will be one of those 'twists' that leaves you thinking 'wtf'.

I do think its got something to do with Ellies husband though but no idea how. I will be very sad when its over, I have enjoyed my little sit down time on a Monday evening and will have to go back to doing all the washing up and packed lunches now!

I like all the theories! My dh knows the actor who plays Nige and he won't give anything away!

In one of the earlier episodes, Ellie was asked out by the pathologist (think that is what he was)
She told DT, and was shocked as he knew she was married.
I reckon that Joe was having an affair with Beth or vicar. Maybe this pathologist had seen him, assumed they were separated, swingers/open marriage.

Agree, the SOCO asking her out scene was a bit random. I was wondering at the time how that would fit into the plot.

And Paul the vicar - he could have dumped Tom's laptop or damaged it beyond data recovery if he were up to no good.

Hope it won't turn out to be Kevin the postman or an even more obscure character! Eg On the way to the morgue to id Danny, Ellie and Mark bumped into a mate selling something. He might be the same man who buttonholed Ellie when she nipped over to a cafe to see Joe and Tom and DS2.

Still choosing between Ollie, Paul and Steve. On the basis Tom is really agitated about this I am inclined to dismiss Steve though he seems the creepiest. Which brings us back to Nige. Aaaargh!

I think it was Danny's sister - possibly with the help of her boyfriend? I think one of the texts that Tom deleted said "they are having sex". I think Danny found out about sex and drugs and threatened to tell. That's why money was in his room as they tried to bribe him. He threatened to tell again so they shut him up!

That would fit with the whole 'Jude the Obscure' thing, but I can't see it as a motive.

My other theory of Joe / Vicar love affair is still appealing.

Im becoming less worried about who killed Danny & more concerned about the plight of DT. Please pleeeease dont let him die! I hope the big twist is that he survives-and after the breakdown of Ellies family when Joe & Toms parts in Dannys death area revealed then DT & Ellie get together at the end-ready for a next series where they are in love and still fighting crime.

I like the theory about the vicar seeing what was all going on-thereby probably knowing jack was innocent-and it will all unravel & although Ellies family wont be the killers there will be alot revealed that will shock her (and hopefully make her turn to DT).

Hopefully it will be the physic who actually did it though as I dont like him.

Don't really have a theory. But don't want it to be Joe, because it's meant to be a big shock and he seems to be the favourite suspect at the moment!

So Paul or Tom is my best guess, but no idea why!

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I'm wondering if Joe, the vicar and Nigel abused Danny. Perhaps Ollie was abused too when he was younger. Tom found out and is confused about his father.

Joe and vicar affair is also another possibility.

Either that or it was Pauline Quirke's dog what dunnit.

I wonder if Nancy66 is around and if she's seen the last episode?
