Eyes down for a full house on Monday.

Hopefully we can combine both threads.

In advance, why don't we each post ONE theory, then we can all gloat afterwards about how clever we are Grin

OP posts:

Joining you all.

I really don't want it to be Joe but I can't see who else it can be.

I agree that Steve stole the pendant at Sandbrook; he obv. loves getting involved in murder cases and I think gets some kind of kick out of it all. I wonder why he said to Beth that the killer was someone close to home?? Does he really know something this time. I think DT talking to the journos about the pendant was his way of trying to get something out of Steve.

How did the vicar get the computer? Must have missed that bit.

Itchyandscratchy · 20/04/2013 17:40

YES Ikeameatballs, I like your thinking. DT is far too private and cynical to be letting personal details like this out into the public domain without a good (case-related) reason. It's absolutely to wheedle someone out: might be Steve... because DT would also never have gone to him saying he was desperate for help either. He's flattering Steve, winning his confidence.

Predict DT will die though, sadly.
Agree with the folk that think Ellie's husband did it. Think Danny saw something (gay affair? Who could his dad have been shagging? or was maybe just a 1 night stand or they'd be implicated in murder too...Nige?) and he/they murdered Danny.

Yes. Danny was out early hours poaching or whatever, saw his dad with Nigel, shagging. Hence Nigel being seen by PQ carrying Danny's body onto the shore.

And that's why Nigel's been so overly nice & helpful to Mark & the family - he's guilty as hell.

Ta-dah!

Northumberlandlass · 20/04/2013 19:31

Signing in.

I don't think Mark is the father of beth's baby.

The rest of my far fetched threesome/ gay lover theories can be found elsewhere.

I don't actually have a clue but haven't looked forward to a conclusion of a TV programme this much for years!!

Ikeameatballs · 20/04/2013 21:05

So Danny saw Joe and Nige shagging, Joe killed him and Nige moved the body? Can't remember if that fits with the alibis ec.

Or Steve found the body somewhere else and moved it (because he wants to get involved)....finding out where he moved it from would help to identify the killer??

howshouldibehave · 20/04/2013 21:57

What if Joe and Roryvicar were having an affair? Danny saw them at it. whilst out poaching and Joe was worried he'd tell Tom so killed him?

WreckfestAtTiffanys · 21/04/2013 01:40

It's ok I think those late night texts were from earlier- possibly the paintball time, rather than the murder night? I made the same mistake and someone sharper eyed than me on here told me.

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 21/04/2013 02:53

Ive been convinced of a gay affair involving the vicar for a while

my question:

psychic said to DT "you've been here before, I'm right aren't i?"

Is this suggesting he is involved? or am I reading far too much into it?.Grin

yellowhousewithareddoor · 21/04/2013 06:38

Signing in. Theory of the day changes like the wind. The next 36 or so hours is going to seem so long!

Fiderer · 21/04/2013 07:56

Strangling someone though, particularly a child facing you - takes strength yes, but also great anger (or fear?) and determination.

What did Danny know? Is the key question and what did the killer have to lose by his knowing?

Am stating the obvious now Grin

DT was afraid of the sea, might have something to do with psychic Steve's comment about his having been there before. When they went out to Mark's boat he told Ellie he didn't like being on the water.

Prob nothing to do with the story but at least it's not a question.

MrsSalvoMontalbano · 21/04/2013 09:53

Singing in!

googling post office vans? I salute your commitment to the cause!

me too! And people with spreadsheets.... So impressed and grateful!

landrover · 21/04/2013 13:37

I have an interesting thought! What if Susan WAS involved in her husband/daughter abuse as was suggested (child taken off her!) And met Danny that night, killed him (dont know why though), then sat smoking the 4 cigarettes (weird). Took his skateboard. We only have her evidence that a boat brought him in? And the neighbour alibi only saw her sat in caravan at one!

JakeBullet · 21/04/2013 13:45

Ooh adding myself to this thread in preparation for tomorrow night Smile

pancakedays · 21/04/2013 14:36

My ramblings -
In the previous case for DT, he took the blame for his wife's mistake to protect their daughter.
I think Ellie will be in the same position at the end of this case in trying to protect her son Tom as I think he was involved.
I also think Joe or vicar have had a relationship or possibly one of them with Beth?
Maybe Danny was blackmailing one of the men, hence the money under the bed? Or the money could be frim the poaching.
I think Joe placed Danny's body on the beach, and hid the phone at the newsagents. Maybe he knew the newsagent's past and wanted to frame him?

pancakedays · 21/04/2013 14:38

Also think Steve the psychic is dodgy!

gillywillywoo · 21/04/2013 14:41

I can't wait to watch it tomorrow night! Ahhhhhhhhhh!!! Smile

Primrose123 · 21/04/2013 14:53

The thing about the post office vans, sometimes our postman parks his Royal Mail van in the street, and sometimes we have a different postman, and he parks his own car in the street. So that red van, if it was unmarked, could be his own van, so he could still be a postman.

Phew. Does that make sense?

ItsOkayItsJustMyBreath · 21/04/2013 16:41

Primrose my step dad is a postie and uses his own car sometimes but the one in BC wasn't placed in a strategic place for delivery iyswim.

I am still trying to come to a theory I believe in but had a dream about it last night where Steve was revealed as a serial killer.

*Note to self to stop watching so many murder mysteries.

ohmygoshandgolly · 21/04/2013 20:06

Can I just pop in here to say that I have loved the Broadchurch threads on here almost as much as the actual programme.

You are all brilliant with your theories and I am already looking forward to your debrief after tomorrow's final episode!

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 21/04/2013 20:39

anybody else thinking DTs daughter is dead - hence constant voicemail?

MikeLitoris · 21/04/2013 20:46

Thats what I was coming on to post brian

I dont have a theory on the killer but I am ruling out Joe and Tom. It isnt either of them.

mrdarceych · 21/04/2013 20:56

Cant wait to see it!

Asinine · 21/04/2013 21:07

I'm convinced it is the vicar. He knew the newsagent was innocen

Asinine · 21/04/2013 21:08

Oops, posted by mistake, anyway I dreamt it was the vicar, so I must be right?

HomeEcoGnomist · 21/04/2013 21:14

Re the vicar 'knowing' Jack was innocent...I thought that was just normal vicar-ish behaviour ie everyone is innocent till proven guilty?

ohforfoxsake · 21/04/2013 21:18

Was DTs daughter the victim in the First murder - and that was his involvement - not that he was the policeman on the case which we have been led to assume. And that the woman who met Beth was his wife?

And that the psychic is the murderer who got away with it and is stalking DT.

Or is it that I am coming up with too many far-out theories to cover all probabilities?

Hmm, curiouser and curiouser. Wink
