The glory that is Frasier

DS2 has recently discovered Frasier which means we have been watching an awful lot of it. I'd forgotten how unbelievably funny and clever it is - it never assumes that the audience is stupid, the acting is consistently brilliant (ridiculous English Moon brothers aside). I'm getting a bit obsessed with the celebs who voice the radio call-ins - list here.

Any other fans?

Eminence is Imminent :o

oooh and when Frasier was translating for Roz and her French beau when they'd tired of each other. "Some things don't need translating"Grin

Geekster · 04/02/2013 22:49

It is so funny. I think my favourite episode was when they were at the beach house with the dead seal when they put one of Maris's robes over it and tried to row it out to sea. Then they had that lamp that was turned on by clapping that kept showing the seal which had come back to the shore.

gingermcflea · 04/02/2013 22:51

Roz and the Shnoz! Forgot that one. So many good quotes.

Quiche her? I hardly know her!
What's that I smell? Probably Japan.

I think I must have watched every episode of Frasier a dozen times each. Never tire of it. I love anticipating my favourite lines.

treacletart · 04/02/2013 23:31

I reckon I've seen 99% of them. Heaven is realising your watching an episode of Frasier for the first time. Has only happened twice in the past ten years but I live in hope it may happen again sometime. Do you remember

SconeRhymesWithGone · 05/02/2013 00:43

treacletart

Three Valentines, one of the best. That scene shows how well they did hilariously funny slapstick as well as the more cerebral comedy.

Lighthousekeeping · 05/02/2013 00:52

I also have it on my planner. I think I've seen them all and then, one surprises mr. Like Daphne's ex coming into it and she pretends to be married to Niles. I loved that one.

I'm also trying to forget what an ass he was on Real Housewives.

clam · 05/02/2013 09:15

That one where Frasier composed a new jingle for his show and ended up employing an entire orchestra, including bagpipes and Roz's new man on the triangle. Love it!

And Ham radio - Roz's major line after having had Novocaine for toothache was "multiple murderer." And Bulldog's ditzy dyslexic girlfriend: "he's got a NUG!"

hackmum · 05/02/2013 09:38

I love Frasier. Niles is one of my favourite comic characters ever - what an actor! Had the box set the Christmas before last, but strangely have only got round to watching the first series, as no-one else in the house is a fan, and I don't really like watching on my own.

One of my favourite exchanges is Frasier and Niles. Niles says something cutting:

Frasier: Do you ever have an unspoken thought?
Niles: I'm having one right now.

CecyHall · 05/02/2013 09:45

The best one is High Holidays- Fridgepants

anonacfr · 05/02/2013 10:31

Anything else in the box, Pandora?

Party face, party face!

Love it.

Pan · 05/02/2013 10:34

yy that exchange,hackmum

When Roz mentions she is dating the French man, Frasier asks " Are there no American men left?"

Lighthousekeeping · 05/02/2013 14:35

I love Roz. Last night was the one were Martin befriends a reclusive author and they read his manuscript. Their snobbishness makes you wonder where they came from.

lemonmuffin · 05/02/2013 17:51

Frasier = absolute perfection.

Perfect casting, perfect writing, perfect acting.

Got me through some rather tough times.

piratecat · 05/02/2013 17:56

I dont get to see it very much as have a very basic tv signal but when i saw it on, I MADE dd aged 10 sit and watch it. I just remembered watching it avidly with the ex first time round, and we loved it.

It's brilliant, and dd agreed.

Hassled · 05/02/2013 18:52

Lovely to see so many fellow fans - last night I had Frasier failing to spot Patrick Stewart's amorous advances. It is absolute perfection (again, apart from those bloody Moon brothers - what were they thinking?

Fridgepants! Love it.
I also think Moondance is rather lovely, as is the Groovy Lady song Martin wrote that Frasier has the choir sing at a funeral.

MN044 · 07/02/2013 09:34

Ham Radio's on channel 4 right now- one of the best ever imo

notso · 07/02/2013 09:50

Grin Grin Grin I love Fraiser.
One of my favourites is the one where Fraiser tries to find a new coffee shop, Farewell Nervosa I think,it is classic.

NuzzleMyScratch · 07/02/2013 09:51

Don't. Direct. Me. :o

Badvoc · 07/02/2013 09:51

Love it!
:)

NuzzleMyScratch · 07/02/2013 09:52

I only like that episode because of Elvis Costello notso. And the cafe with bean bags!

coffeeinbed · 07/02/2013 09:58

Haven;t watched that foe so long and somehow missed the whole last season.
Love that show.
Looking forward to catching up now.

iseenodust · 07/02/2013 10:10

Love it. Only recently saw for the first time the one where they go ice-fishing and Martin tells the boys he loves them.
