Following on from all the chat about the Thorn Birds on the fancying priests thread in AIBU, I was thinking about all those corny dramas from my youth.

Like Secret Army Me and my mum used to try and remember the order of the roads, canals and railways each week.

Or Tenko. One of the few programmes of the 70s or 80s to pass the Bechdel test.

The Chinese Detective (IIRC it starred someone called David Yip) My bro used to watch it.

Sapphire and Steel used to scare me to death. Especially an episode when a baby grew up in about 10 seconds to a fully grown man in a nappy. To this day, my sister cannot listen to Brahm's LullabyGrin

'Paint with Nancy' was great- especially where they showed it at double speed at the end. She used to go through a lot of loo rolls.

I was a Starsky girl and my sister was a Hutch girl.
How about The Man from Uncle, I fancied Illya Kuriakin.

Pagwatch · 25/01/2013 15:34

Ooooh The Man from Uncle.

Yes, fancied illya kuriakin but Napoleons Solo had the best name.

We all used to watch Kung fu every week which was odd really because it was exactly the same story every week.

I thought I was the only person in the world who remembered Triangle Grin Bloody loved it. No box set and I can't believe it's because there wouldn't be a demand

I shall show my age and also nominate Lost In Space. Hamtastic Grin

IWorshipSatin · 25/01/2013 15:44

don't worry acandle - Lost In Space was repeated in the 80s or 90s Grin It was on on Sunday lunchtimes and was always on while we ate our roast (my parents positively discouraged conversation at the table!). I loved it - it had Brigitta from The Sound of Music in iirc.

I still want to know about the grey haired smooth bloke with the mistress-

intrigued and wracking brains.

LadyBeagleEyes · 25/01/2013 15:45

Oh yes, Lost in Space and the evil Dr. Smith.

Me and my brother used to watch Monkey every Friday evening but all I can remember is Pigsy, always said Pigsssayyyy and some water spirit with skulls round its neck.

Crown Court was the highlight of sick days and never seemed to be on in the holidays because we were shown Daktari with Clarence the cross-eyed lion for the hundredth time. Also Flashing Blade every summer, who wants to join in with a rousing chorus of "It's better to have fought and lost than not have fought at all"?

Anyone remember a series Maggie- IIRC set in Glasgow.
She wanted to go to University but her parents bought a shop and they sold loo-roll.

I dont remember the ceder tree

it might even be an idea to bring back as people are interested in those things again now.

itvi in those was all regional and they could chose what programes they showed
so i think it why i dont remember the ceder tree

Sad claim to fame: I went to school and Guides with Mike Holloway's sisters!

Crown Court and the Cedar Tree were my favourite part of being ill, and the original Emerdale Farm.

Another Man from Uncle and David McCallum (Ilya Kuryakin) fan. Thursday night was the best TV night (back in the late 60s) - TOTP then Man from Uncle.

I claim oldest MNetter medal as no one else remembers the Appleyards.

Man from Uncle - there were also one or two episodes called The Girl from Uncle with Noel Harrison, (son of Rex, handsome and played the guitar) but I can't remember who played the girl.

"Does anyone remember The Tomorrow People"

My sister and I adored that programme. We always used to fight over whether we could have Blue Peter or Lost in Space on.

Anyone remember Bergerac?
Happy Days - Henry Winkler came to DD's school about 4 years ago and was absolutely lovely
Dixon at Dock Green
Z Cars
Softly Softly
Rising Damp
Porridge
Citizen Smith
