wherever it was, it was IMO quite a big house for a family of 4, above what is comfortably needed

starsandunicorns · 13/12/2012 21:32

Am watching and its bringing back some really rough memroies :( as a single parent with two kids i had to deal with on my own ( landlord sold house and couldn't get another house in time i paid my rent and bills on time) the stress was awful even now i flap about rent etc cos of what happened

ifso · 13/12/2012 21:34

i think i might start decluttering, as all the stuff just adds to so much extra stress if anything were to go wrong?

AutumnGlory · 13/12/2012 21:34

I'm late too, anyone care to explain the big family in temporary accommodation story?

ifso · 13/12/2012 21:34

this woman has cancer, and they still insist on evicting her

ffs getting angry now

Sleepingbunnies · 13/12/2012 21:35

Not getting why the family with the 500k house didn't just downsize / downgrade to a smaller one?!

what a gracious lady she is

expatinscotland · 13/12/2012 21:36

They didn't have the money. Patricia had money, too, to buy a house, but she got sick and her husband left her and now she's losing her home. NOT from over-stretching herself financially voluntarily in a risky vehicle. I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who do that and who seem intelligent enough to have worked something else out, but that's heaping scorn, bitterness, etc.

PickledInAPearTree · 13/12/2012 21:37

Thing is bunnies they may have had massive negative equity. If they could have sold I'm sure they probs key would have. Perhaps financially it was better to stay there until the bitter end?

VicarInaTutuDrankSantasSherry · 13/12/2012 21:37

i cannot believe they are evicting the lady with cancer. appalling.

ive reported the personal attack on expat. how cruel.

Jellykat · 13/12/2012 21:38

Poor Patricia, shes been through so much already Sad

ifso · 13/12/2012 21:38

Oh Kevin

ivykaty44 · 13/12/2012 21:38

she is a graceious lady ifso...

HillyBillyBobby · 13/12/2012 21:39

Sleeping I'm guessing that as they took it as a 100% mortgage and were only paying off the interest that they are probably in negative equity? Or they put it on the market and it didn't sell? Otherwise I don't know why they wouldn't have tried to sell it.

jinglebellyalltheway · 13/12/2012 21:39

I feel so scared for Kevin, no way can he handle himself on the streets Sad

thekidsrule · 13/12/2012 21:39

not sure if i heard right but didnt they say the lady patricia had lived in the house for 15yrs

if she has it was hardly not for the want of trying to keep it

and so what if its a big house, does that bother some people and then make patrica a target for jealous thoughts

Sleepingbunnies · 13/12/2012 21:39

I am just counting my blessings watching this programe.

My OH was made redundant last year and I was in maternity leave - thank god he found a job and I went back to work.. It could have been so different :(

Notcontent · 13/12/2012 21:40

This sort of stuff always makes me feel so upset. People make bad decisions, but no one should be homeless.

For people who lose their homes, I don't think we can blame the banks. But life can be so shit.

Also, I don't think it's right that someone like Kevin is on the streets. No one should have to sleep on the street. No one. I just don't understand how anyone can be left to fend for themselves on the street.

Sleepingbunnies · 13/12/2012 21:40

My heart is breaking for Kevin!!

PickledInAPearTree · 13/12/2012 21:40

I have friends that have dine it expat and are now living by the seat of their pants on credit with nothing getting paid off.

It's a daft thing to do, people just went mad though always assuming houses were going up and up.

ifso · 13/12/2012 21:40

i tell you all, next time I'm out and about, I will not forget to pack something to eat and when I walk past a homeless person I will give it to them, talk with them, even if only for 5 mins out of my day

this is 2012

such a gap getting scarily wider between rich and poor it is awful

expatinscotland · 13/12/2012 21:40

Kevin probably has a good chance of getting on his feet if can get decent shelter.

OP posts:
jinglebellyalltheway · 13/12/2012 21:41

yeah but even if you sell in negative equity and downsize to rent somewhere cheap you can still be better off per month

my parents sold a house in negative equity in the 80s and rented somewhere v cheap while they paid off the remainder of the mortgage

PickledInAPearTree · 13/12/2012 21:42

At the end if the day though we are all so close to a disaster. Could be a family illness bereavement husband leaving. It's sobering.
