If not then consider this the start of the thread.

I think the wrong person went out last night. Poor girl, the guy they chose over her really got in by the skin of his teeth!

I'm recording the episodes and mainly get to watch them later the same night they are broadcast. Can't wait any longer :)

strictlycaballine · 05/12/2012 16:00

I liked Marcus Wareing before watching last night's programme. Thought his,

"I've sacrificed my friends, I've sacrificed my family, I've sacrificed my youth" was a bitt OTT.

Wonder whether the BBC is trying to ramp up the drama. Really felt for Ollie - how on earth do you expect to get the best out of people when behaving in that manner?

As LittleAbruzzenBear says, it's totally unnecessary.

Anyway, thought the best man won. Am rooting for Ollie and foraging bloke ...

LittleAbruzzenBear · 05/12/2012 17:54

Instead of recording and watching tomorrow lunchtime whilst feeding DS2, I will watch tonight when it's on. I love the semi-final and final episodes and can't wait.

EnjoyResponsibly · 05/12/2012 20:21

Who's the chef tonight in the Pro kitchen? He's going to blow a gasket any second!

MsNobodyAgain · 05/12/2012 20:29

Daniel Clifford. He's been on 'Great British Menu' as well. Always seemed a bit volatile on that tbh.

EnjoyResponsibly · 05/12/2012 20:32

Seems to be par for the profession. Fabulous food though. Love game.

fishandlilacs · 05/12/2012 21:03

Wooohoo.
I felt for Ross, his little heart broke. Such a close thing, James was lucky his venison looked like he dropped it on the floor

OP posts:
WingDefence · 05/12/2012 21:47

Poor Ross. Really gutted he didn't get through because I like Matt Bellamy so my hopes are pinned on Anton now (if that's the name of the Devon chef who did the carrot cake in a pot?).

I hadn't heard of that Midsummer restaurant before but I was drooling over both those dishes tonight!

It's hotting up!

herbaceous · 06/12/2012 11:47

It did look DELISH, didn't it. Luckily my delivery curry arrived just in time, or I would have started eating the cushions.

And that Daniel Clifford looked rather disappointed that Ross and James recreated his 'signature' dish so well, and seemingly easily. Not as remarkable as you thought you were, eh Mr Stroppy...

I love the look of Anton's food. Much as I like Keri, and it would be good for a woman to be in the final, I think he's the best.

HipHopOpotomus · 06/12/2012 16:04

it's because the pros have no family life or friends outside of work - would make anyone very uptight!

This week Daniel & Marcus have both admitted they have lost contact with their friends and never see their families in order to achieve what they have (a Michillin starred restaurant).

As much as I love MC PRof, I just can't see how anything would be worth not seeing my family. Fancy food - so what??!!?!?!

herbaceous · 06/12/2012 16:11

I'm out tonight, so will miss the Keri vs Anton showdown. However, as I'll be eating a meal prepared by college catering students, I shall try to throw as many Michel-, Greg- and Monica-isms as possible.
'I could not serve this plate to Michel'.
'Why isn't it in a bowl?'
'This is not error-free.'
'Your sauce is deep, but there's not enough of it.'
'I could eat this ALL UP.'

Minichristmas · 06/12/2012 16:30

It's not to my taste, I don't like it.
Also just raising your eyebrow. What fun you will have

herbaceous · 06/12/2012 16:37

I hope others at the table are MCP fans, or I'll look a right arse as I tilt my head to one side and nod. Or shout 'where's my mash?'

As they're dear little teenagers cooking our food, I shall refrain from acting like one of critics and pouring disdain upon the offerings, while pushing it around my plate.

MsNobodyAgain · 06/12/2012 17:25

Can you work in the words 'buttery biscuit base' at some point?

Or, "it's like a snog in a bowl"?

WingDefence · 06/12/2012 17:39

You have to start by mentioning something about the presentation Xmas Grin

fishandlilacs · 06/12/2012 20:01

You have to do a sort of sideways nod if you like it.

Its an accomplished dish

the fish/meat/veg are as they should be

fishandlilacs · 06/12/2012 20:13

Shit me that chef is a man mountain. He seems nice though. Kinder than the previous two stress heads

OP posts:
Minichristmas · 06/12/2012 20:27

Yes almost human. C'mon Keri

fishybits · 06/12/2012 20:28

Now, that is a chef I would've enjoyed working for back in the day.

Pantah630 · 06/12/2012 20:30

What a great, inspirational chef and a stress free kitchen. Very impressive, those two are very lucky. I missed last nights show but blimey Marcus Waring is a real stresshead.

EnjoyResponsibly · 06/12/2012 20:35

You can really see these two in the final, can't you?

EnjoyResponsibly · 06/12/2012 20:37

Is this a knockout round though? Unfair if it is. Some of the previous contenders weren't close to Keri and Anton.

fishybits · 06/12/2012 20:38

I agree Enjoy, both of these chefs are very good.

Lovemynailstoday · 06/12/2012 20:39

Never knew the water bath was THE thing at the moment. Everthing goes in there....

EnjoyResponsibly · 06/12/2012 20:40

TBF last nights chef was mostly pissed off at Ross's inability to plate up as instructed over and over. Presentation wasn't a string suit for either contender and both screwed up a course in the cook-off.

Tougher challenge tonight with K & A. I reckon both might go through.
