Just typed out a very excitable post only to find the previous thread, on which I was an avid lurker, had exceeded it's capacity. So if you don't mind, I'll start the overflow thread in the lead up to the Grand Final.

OP posts:

Whoever would have thought that a programme about baking could be so nerve wracking!

DontCallMeBaby · 16/10/2012 20:17

Did MB just say 'your lovely sausage' to John?

DontCallMeBaby · 16/10/2012 20:17

OMG soggy bottom!

flippinada · 16/10/2012 20:19

Agree about John's family Calyx. I thought they sounded rather dismissive and unpleasant - couldn't they think of one nice thing to say? Although I guess it could have been nerves but still..

Calyx · 16/10/2012 20:21

The other two have such good support and poor John...! I want him not to come last so his family have something to praise him for. I don't think he will win unfortunately!

wintera · 16/10/2012 20:22

No its not just you, I thought that as well. Was really surprised actually, but then they seem to make a big deal about the fact that he is expected to have a legal career etc. But there's a chance it has been edited to make it look like she is disapproving. This is a surprise so far no? John and Brendan doing really well. Hope this round goes better for James!

coffeeinbed · 16/10/2012 20:23

Oh that's pink!

DontCallMeBaby · 16/10/2012 20:25

Paste food colouring, that was NEVER going to be delicate pink!

wintera · 16/10/2012 20:25

Christ that fondant is a nightmare! I'm sticking with my Mr Kiplings!

dapplegrey · 16/10/2012 20:26

Yes, it could have been edited to make her look disapproving. Iirc he rang her a couple of episodes ago to tell her that he was through to the next round and they had a nice chat.

WipsGlitter · 16/10/2012 20:26

They are a mess!

DinosaurSchool · 16/10/2012 20:28

I had NO idea they were so hard to make!

DontCallMeBaby · 16/10/2012 20:30

That was a hideous technical challenge!

Jux · 16/10/2012 20:32

Chiffon cake? I've never heard of it!

coffeeinbed · 16/10/2012 20:33

It's american.
Egg whites, then the yolks and oil.

wintera · 16/10/2012 20:34

John's cake sounds fit! Hope it turns out ok.

TheSandstoneCat · 16/10/2012 20:35

Yes - we thought John's women were mean spirited "he's never won anything in his life" - charming. Warming more and more to Brendan with his catholic guilt jokes, his younger partner and rift-healing cake.

DontCallMeBaby · 16/10/2012 20:36

OH!!!

marshmallowpies · 16/10/2012 20:37

Oh James!! Noooooooo!
Never put a cake on a stool, people.

trumpton · 16/10/2012 20:38

Oh no ! Cake down !

wintera · 16/10/2012 20:38

Oh crap! Poor poor James!

coffeeinbed · 16/10/2012 20:38

Blimey.
I knew something was off when they said this thing about the timing...

flippinada · 16/10/2012 20:38

I don't see anyone could not warm to Brendan after that.

I wonder if John's family were edited to look mean because he doesn't win and they're going for sympathy?

ILoveOnionRings · 16/10/2012 20:39

It does say that on page one of Mary Berrys book Wink

coffeeinbed · 16/10/2012 20:39

I still don't like Brendan.
Sorry Flip.
