Just typed out a very excitable post only to find the previous thread, on which I was an avid lurker, had exceeded it's capacity. So if you don't mind, I'll start the overflow thread in the lead up to the Grand Final.

I was imagining you having an affair with Tom Morton, hence he made you late for your lab.

N'mind!

Poledra · 16/10/2012 14:37

I wish! Sadly, he was only on my radio... Sorry for being dense!

squoosh · 16/10/2012 14:40

Not dense at all, sadly I have a smutty mind.

Let us know how your get on with your avoidance tactics. God help the colleague who acidentally blurts it out!

dementedma · 16/10/2012 15:08

I want john to win. He's waspishly funny, and was robbed of star baker for his Colosseum! Don't get the James-love. For overall consistency it should be Brendan.
Can't wait to watch it tonight but apparently there is some bloody football game on.....wields rolling pin menacingly at DH

ppeatfruit · 16/10/2012 15:13

squoosh did you hear the bit when Salty said "we actually get to EAT the food it's not just what it looks like" he was talking to the people on t'internet IMO a bit showoffy; he came over a bit bad tempered and Mary as lovely.

squoosh · 16/10/2012 16:01

I think PH is probably letting all the adoration go to his head a bit, he's quite the star these days. I'm sure Mary will keep him in line, can't see her going in for any of that nonsense.

StrangerintheNight · 16/10/2012 16:42

Up to speed on all the episodes now, and looking forward to the final. Have forgotten to treat myself to a slice of fancy shop-bought cake for tonight, so may have to actually make one. Where's the fun in that? Do those microwave mug cake recipes actually work or taste any good? Don't feel I can justify baking a full sized cake, as there's a very high chance I would scoff it all in front of tv.

OP posts:
StrangerintheNight · 16/10/2012 16:45

Yes, read that PH is getting his own bread based series next year so he's clearly enjoying the limelight. He even admitted he'd want to take part in Strictly if they asked him, so watch out...

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 16/10/2012 16:54

Well he could certainly do with the exercise on Strictly after all the stuffing he does in GBBO Grin.

Stranger i've made successful sponge puddings in the microwave so I shouldn't think cakes would be difficult; much quicker that's for sure!

Bilbobagginstummy · 16/10/2012 17:44

Are there any alternatives to Mr Kipling's French Fancies, though?

considers pre-bake-off mercy dash to supermarket in town several miles away if there are

squoosh · 16/10/2012 17:46

Marks do some very nice small French pear tarts. Heck any cake will do!

VikingVagineGhoulnamStyle · 16/10/2012 18:37

Oh god I have no cake, nothing! I had a really long day at work and just can't bring myself to whip something up. Has anyone got a really really easy recipe I can stick in a cup in the microwave?

StrangerintheNight · 16/10/2012 18:46

Right, I'm going to try the Nutella Mug Cake. Currently having a reasoned and grown up discussion with DH as to whether football or GBBO is being watched live or recorded.

OP posts:
wintera · 16/10/2012 18:54

I've got French fancies in the cupboard and choc eclaires in the fridge so I'm good to go!

Molehillmountain · 16/10/2012 19:03

I'm late to this thread but so looking forward to to tonight. Am I allowed to stay if I admit to loving Kipling's Fondant fancies? Happy to share the biscuits ds (clean hands Wink) and I made today.

squoosh · 16/10/2012 19:33

Molehill no shame in enjoying a luminous pink French fancy!

I didn't go for cake, thought a nice French red would be better for my nerves!

bacon · 16/10/2012 19:38

Loved Mary & Paul on Chris Evans this morning the duo work so well togther.

Looking forward to the pouring fondant as I want to have a go at this.

Surprised that some people fancy James, really??? He's just far to nerdy. Still think John has winged it for most of it. Shame there isnt one lady in the final.

Just watching the Hairy Bikers, kids are going to bed now!

wintera · 16/10/2012 19:59

Here we go!!

wintera · 16/10/2012 20:04

I really really don't like Sue's trousers. Just saying . . .

DontCallMeBaby · 16/10/2012 20:06

"James learned to bake as a boy". He is still a boy! Grin

MrsY · 16/10/2012 20:12

I love John.

That's all!

TheSandstoneCat · 16/10/2012 20:14

... and I really dislike James' shorts. Go Brendan!

ILovePonyo · 16/10/2012 20:14

Aw I love Brendan Grin he's funny! He just made a catholic guilt joke!

LexiLoganberry · 16/10/2012 20:15

Is it just me or did John's mum not come across very well, seemed to put him down a bit.

Calyx · 16/10/2012 20:16

Lexi I thought that about his mum too. And his sister 'we can be proud of him for once' no wonder he's got no confidence :(
