Just typed out a very excitable post only to find the previous thread, on which I was an avid lurker, had exceeded it's capacity. So if you don't mind, I'll start the overflow thread in the lead up to the Grand Final.

I think Brendan lost it because he always did badly in the technical bakes , he needed to practice stuff first, James just had a mare of a weekend and John pulled it off when the chips were down

John's future looks bright! A first in his law degree and training in Paris hopefully. So he always has the law thing to fall back on. Good lad!

Shame about James but I really didn't think it was fair to bake five different cakes to be honest. John's cake was gorgeous! I felt sorry for Brendan as he was very consistent but I think what let him down were the technical bakes. He seemed to struggle with those.

So happy to see the update from everyone, especially Sarah-Jane and Cathryn, it actually made me well up, not sure why. I want to know where they are and visit

Oh FFS. John wasn't the best baker over the series. How can he have won. Brendan, who was by far the most consistent - and therefore the best, was robbed.

I won't watch it next year of course am lying but am so cross for Brendan

Yay, have been supporting john for weeks now. He pulled it off on the day. Although feel a wee bit sorry for Brendan as he was very consistent. Hope Johns family are a bit more proud of him now!
