Anyone planning to see if BBC can be better for the blood pressure than OBEM?

OP posts:

I don't understand why they don't do a c section if the baby is in danger? :( meconium in waters thing. Particularly given she's already lost a child?

This programme is really scaring me - is it like this at every hospital??!

watfordmummy · 31/07/2012 21:39

breathe

raininginbaltimore · 31/07/2012 21:40

Because she is fully dilated. They would have to push him back up and that is more dangerous.

Is the baby that colour because of the meconium?

FrillyMilly · 31/07/2012 21:41

This is hard to watch. That must be the longest few minutes ever. That poor woman.

It seems more informative than OBEM and less about the characters.

Lucyellensmum99 · 31/07/2012 21:42

oh no, ive just switched back on - fuck fuck fuck those poor poor people :(

Imnothome · 31/07/2012 21:42

:( poor baby, poor mum and dad. :(

thekidsrule · 31/07/2012 21:42

poor hubby he looks beside himself

GwendolineMaryLacey · 31/07/2012 21:42

It's definitely more documentary and less fly on the wall, isn't it?

This is awful :(

Pickles77 · 31/07/2012 21:43

I don't want to give birth now. I'm frightened.

BelinaTheChicken · 31/07/2012 21:43

This is much sadder than OBEM, glad this wasn't on when I was pregnant

watfordmummy · 31/07/2012 21:43

I remember when ds2 didn't cry, I was screaming, why hasn't he cried, over and over again, I certainly wasn't as calm as her!

He did cry and was fine, but it took soo long, probably wasn't but felt an age!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 31/07/2012 21:44

Crying!

Lucyellensmum99 · 31/07/2012 21:44

will all pregnant women please turn this off now!

BlueMoon74 · 31/07/2012 21:44

I don't have confidence in that blonde woman - she seems like the type who would ignore what you were saying!!!

FrankelSaysRelax · 31/07/2012 21:44

Oh heck, blonde midwife is back Hmm

Ormiriathomimus · 31/07/2012 21:45

DD was blue when she came out thanks to a cord round her neck. Had to be put in the recusitator - crowds of people round her. Horrible.

TeamGlaikitBritain · 31/07/2012 21:45

I really wouldn't watch this if I were pregnant and I was addicted to obem

Oh now it the blonde one again!

BelinaTheChicken · 31/07/2012 21:45

Pickles don't make it scare you, not all deliveries are like this, I'm sure you'll be fine. FWIW I had straightforward deliveries and lovely midwives

TeaandHobnobs · 31/07/2012 21:46

Pickles don't be scared! This may be less sensationalist than OBEM, but they are still going to pick the stories that are out of the ordinary.

I had a prem labour (31+5) with DS, and a forceps delivery, and it was absolutely fine.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 31/07/2012 21:46

Please don't worry. If these programmes only showed the MULTITUDE of normal births, it wouldn't be entertaining!
Scary stuff does happen, but things are generally straightforward.
