Here we are, a new home for the second week. Smile

Rafa will be sorely missed. Sad

Rooting for Roger.

Could there/will there be more upsets ? If last week is anything to go by, is this years Wimby anyone's for the taking ?

If the roof was already on, why couldn't they have put Murray and Cilic, or even another match on after Djokovic? They have potentially wasted three hours play. Mind you, with all the dithering they did about the roof during the Federer and Malisse match, is it really a big surprise?

It should be about what the viewers want to see though, it shouldn't be about what is 'fair'.
Wimbledon wouldn't exist and the players wouldn't earn millions if nobody watched it.
If it's true that the BBC had a potential 8 million audience with Murray's last match then that is ridiculous.
And as Creme said, there was still a potential 3 hours of play even if they hadn't given the spot to Murray.
Wimbledon is still run by a load of old duffers as far as I can see.

CremeEggThief · 02/07/2012 21:41

LBE, exactly! Busiest day of the tournament and all, FFS. Very strange decision!

HenriettaChicken · 02/07/2012 21:48

I think they should've put the Gasquet/Mayer game on.

Not the biggest money spinner, but the only match in the top half that isn't completed...the others being Federer, Youzny and Djoko.

The winner will now have considerably less time to recover than his opponent.

LetUsPrey · 02/07/2012 23:07

Well poo. Tomorrow is the day I had the opportunity to go to Wimbledon Court One, but various factors (travel, expense, time off work that can't really be spared because of school holidays coming up, etc) meant it wasn't feasible for me to go. I knew there'd be a risk of matches carried over because of rain. So it looks like I'll be missing the conclusion of Murray's match. Strangely, I'm not as bothered as I thought I would be. I wonder if that means I'm a grown up?

Not seen much tennis today but will hopefully rectify that over the next few daysSmile.

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 03/07/2012 07:11

was prob a good thing there was no more tennis,- my raging toothache took over and I was asleep by 9. Grin

It was a waste- had they not faffed around earlier with the rain delay, and no roof, there may have been potentially an extra 45 minutes play, to add to the 3 they could have played. If it rains today ( and it's likely)- they will be even more behind.

Should be a packed day- weather permitting!

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 03/07/2012 07:36

And did anyone see the Schiavone press conference? She was very fed up (with some justification, but the court conditions affected both players)- but she kept cracking her knuckles. It was funny!Grin

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 03/07/2012 09:32

its really sunny here

(but I'm in manchester, so this will have no bearing on weather in the south!)Grin
Be nice to be dry for a day....

HenriettaChicken · 03/07/2012 10:15

(sunny here too!)

...but in Yorkshire and actually not that far from Manchester, albeit the other side of the Pennines!

SESthebrave · 03/07/2012 10:30

Only 15 miles from Wimbledon here and it's been raining overnight but currently dry. Not sure how long for though Hmm
DS at nursery today so can try and watch some again today (rain permitting!)
C'mon Andy!

SESthebrave · 03/07/2012 11:12

And it's raining here...

I may have spoken too soon...grey clouds are forming. I have a very fragmented day- and am Angry that for some reason, there is no tennis on- even though matches were scheduled for 11.30- and Ferrer/Del Potro at 12!

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 03/07/2012 12:00

I've found Tsonga/Fish on the red button/301. Grin

HenriettaChicken · 03/07/2012 12:11

Raining...but playing.

Let's get some tennis in!!

HenriettaChicken · 03/07/2012 12:16

Bollocks. What a farce.

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 03/07/2012 12:19

I know they want an outdoor tournament. But rain was forecast- so why wasn't the roof already being closed before 12?

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 03/07/2012 12:20

ooh, an interview with Goran- bonus!

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 03/07/2012 12:23

Theoretically, Ferrer plays 1pm-4pm, the two womens matches are wrapped up by 5.30- they could definitely get some more play on centreGrin(if, as it seems, it's going to be disrupted all day on the outside courts).

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 03/07/2012 12:30

Sadly, it means no chance of getting to see any of the doubles- and there is an oldies blokes match that would have been great to see- Mansour Bahrami and Henri leconte- they are hilarious on court!

JackieandJudy · 03/07/2012 13:02

Afternoon ladies. Just sat down to watch tennis and not budging now til school pick up. Have also had fragmented day but have still managed to post intermittently on mn.

Nephew has arrived and been informed of the tennis law, which is good. The chicken which I was cooking for tea, and therefore attempting to be organised, has burnt - which is not good.

Very grey here (south east). I used to love Henri Leconte, so charming Smile

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 03/07/2012 13:10

Right- so now Murray is back out, they will take off a potentially far more interesting match, to watch him??

Vamos Ferrer!

NoComet · 03/07/2012 13:11

I may have to watch Murray, Greg's commentating is getting on my nerves.

CremeEggThief · 03/07/2012 13:13

They are indeed hilarious, Raahhfa :).

Surely they are going to have to pile as many matches as they can on Centre (one at a time! ) to try to clear the backlog? I'm still annoyed about last night's silly decision.

Good start for Ferrer. His game adapts well to the grass.
