Favourite costume drama ?

I watched Pride & Prejudice today ( the film version, I know most people hate Keira knightly but I love it) and I have now got North & South lined up for tonight once DS goes to sleep.

What are your favourites?

No I caught a bit of it recently and was not impressed; a lot of running at the end and drippy noses! I don't know the name of the actress though a small slight girl with not much expression.

Sally Hawkins,she was in Made in Dagenham and Happy go Lucky,but not righr for Anne Elliott. Yes the end was silly! remember Harry Hill making fun of it....

Next on my list is creation.

Oh, I love Sally H! I saw her in Constellations and she was fab although Rafe Spall was even better although I'm biased because I fancy him mucho
Isn't she in Twenty Thousand Streets ...? Have ordered it from Amazon for much cheapness. Huzzah!

North and South! Though I think it's mainly my Richard Armitage obsession.....

Oh yes i enjoyed North and South I loved the book more though) and I second the Richard Armitage obsession But I wasn't keen on the girl who played the lead I can't remember her name. Wasn't it she of ex stenders fame who played the biggest Little Dorrit i've ever seen !!

The book was better, but then they always are!

Yeah Daniella thingy (I had mixed her up with another ex stenders actress who was in Little Dorrit) can't act IMO; I was a bit at the casting, of course she's beautiful but i'm sure they could've found a beautiful AND intelligent actress for the part in North and South.

Yes bronze the books are ALWAYS better!

I like the book of North and South better too. I also thought the casting of daniella wrong - she was too blonde. Richard Armitage looks exactly likeThornton is described in the books but Margaret is meant to be dark haired and very beautiful (although not wealthy) hence Thornton's hots for her. Didn't like the wa they changed the ending and some other scenes too.

Still the cotton fluff blowing around like snow in the factory was beautifully filmed and Mr Bates' (of downtown) acting made up for it.
