Mad Men: how much does Megan know?

So, last episode showed that Don has told her about being married to Anna, so has he told her the rest? About actually being Dick Whitman? I suspect not, but surely he knows it's only a matter of time before Betty decides to drop the bombshell... What do other MM fans think?

Final episode?? I thought there were two more?

33goingon64 · 12/06/2012 08:56

There's one more. Tonight. DH is Way though so I have to wait til SATURDAY to watch it Angry as I think he will divorce me if I watch it without him. I love Don in this series, I think it shows how much he has grown up. Megan is a true partner (well as much as women could be in the 60s) compared to Betty whom he infantalised (remember him checking out how the shrink sessions had gone with the shrink rather than asking her directly?). I loved when he said to Lane that he had had to start over many times in his life and this this was the hardest part. Poor lane though, he didn't take heed.

It was the final episode I saw yesterday. The one ending with Don pondering a question, seemingly. I shall say no more.

TheNightWatch · 12/06/2012 11:22

Please dont!! Smile

I hope we dont have to wait another two years for the next Season.

33goingon64 · 12/06/2012 12:24

Right, boycotting this thread til Saturday in case someone gives any more hints

Ive just found this, has anyone seen it yet?

CordonBlur · 12/06/2012 20:24

Less than an hour to go ..... my plan is to record, then begin watching about 15 mins in, so that I can zap through the ads. Sooooo looking forward to it. Might even have a Mini-Magnum to ad to the sense of occasion. You can tell I don't get out much.

TheNightWatch · 12/06/2012 20:51

Well I'm the same. I'll let it record for ten minutes. I will open a bottle of wine at 9pm precisely. I've already been bathed. I hope it's not an anti-climax!

Happyasapiginshite · 12/06/2012 20:56

Thanks for that link, TNW, I really enjoyed it. January Jones is much warmer than her character and Jon Hamm is steaming hot Grin

CordonBlur · 12/06/2012 22:09

Mmmmmm, the old Don might be coming back ..... could be he's lost respect for Megan because she's sold out? (And he doesn't even know what she's done to her friend.) Absolutely LOVED the shot of the five partners in a line, Joan in the middle. I'm guessing it's a reference. Does anybody know what to? I thought a little bit Reservoir Dogs as they walked in

TheNightWatch · 12/06/2012 22:10

Would early 1960's woman be as toned as Petes gf? did you see the abs on her? Envy

YouGoonie · 12/06/2012 22:10

So what did we think? I think there was quite a lot of symbolism in there but as per usual I didn't get most of it!
Don looked up for it at the end though right?

YouGoonie · 12/06/2012 22:11

Cordon the rat pack maybe?

CeliaFate · 12/06/2012 22:27

There was an empty window to symbolise Lane's absence I think. You could also say they all had a different view, despite being in the same room.

TheNightWatch · 12/06/2012 22:55

Well, that was an interesting ending. I really enjoyed this season.

Romilly70 · 12/06/2012 23:05

I had thought it was the last series; so glad there is more.
The last scene, especially the music had me swooning, and especially Don's expression. He is smokin' hot!

MrsBovary · 12/06/2012 23:54

Yes agree, I felt he lost some of the regard or respect he held for Megan. I wondered if that would influence his reply in the final scene.

The Phantom was an apt title for the last episode. All those old ghosts. I was reading that Lane's name wasn't actually mentioned at all in the episode too.

MrsBovary · 12/06/2012 23:56

Somebody wanted recommendations of other, similarly interesting programmes to watch? I haven't seen it, but have just been recommended Boardwalk Empire (think is set in the 20s), so I'm going to give that a try next.

icapturethecastle · 12/06/2012 23:59

Yes I agree mrs bovary. What a brilliant series. Also madmen from the start next week can't wait!

Charlotte1234 · 13/06/2012 00:08

Peggy watching the dogs shagging in a car park from the ground floor... Other guys taking in the view, looking out to skyscrapers... What does it all mean?!

TheNightWatch · 13/06/2012 00:19

Where was Peggy's bloke? Did he move in with her and, will we be seeing her next Season?

TheNightWatch · 13/06/2012 00:29

Righty, Ive just realised thanks to the Guardian blog that Peggy was in Virginia. And, she is probably still going to be in the next Season.

Oh, I wonder if he went off with that woman? what was his reply? He is so sexy.

Nancy66 · 13/06/2012 09:26

Fab ending - loved the shot of Roger starkers by his hotel window.

akaemmafrost · 14/06/2012 10:53

I watched the final two episodes last night.

I think the old Don is going to be back for the next series. I think he was walking away from Megan and her world and ambitions when he walked away from the ad set. He turned his back and left, walking into the dark, leaving her behind and it felt like a very obvious separation.

In the episode where Lane killed himself. As he walked into his office there was a New York baseball team pennant up on the wall and as he sat at his desk there was a model statue of Liberty on his left. I think this symbolised that his time with the company and in New York was the pinnacle of what he would ever achieve. There was no new start for him and that is why he killed himself. He could not go back to England and become the quintessential English Man again, he had changed too much.

Also did anyone notice when they all lined up looking out of the window, Pete was turned off to the corner, while everyone else was looking straight ahead. I felt he is on his own path now and also facing the corner, isn't the corner office for the Big Boys? Roger Sterling was off to the corner as well.

I think Betty was wonderful with Sally when she started her period because now she is able to relate to Sally as a woman rather than a child. She can't mother her children because she her own mother died so young but she knows how to be a woman. I loved the bit where they lay on the bed together. Sally and Betty having a real Mother/Daughter moment.

Will we be watching from the very beginning again next week? I know I will Grin.
