Not trying to defend Dennis Waterman (don't actually give a damn about him one way or another) but is alcoholism the only possible reason for his shaking hands? I was thinking maybe he had early Parkinsons. He did say he was a boxer in his youth...

To answer OP's original question: his views on women could have come from his mother. Being a woman doesn't mean you like other women.

Witness the comments from his daughter, ex-wife, current wife, Amanda Redman and Linda Agran.

I guess he surrounds himself with women like them who bolster his view that he's a great guy who loves women. Anybody with a critical view gets frozen out, or possibly punched in the face.
