Oh god do I need a plan???

Helicopter in back yard to fly somewhere safe

Guns would be good but knives work well

Have noticed the zomblies seem to walk/stagger a lot faster now

susiedaisy · 03/03/2012 00:01

Wow fantastic episode, lori put well and truly in her place by Andrea although I think lori will choose to ignore Her but at least someone said something to her and great scenes with rick and Shane, this second half of the series is turning out to be fab, I really thought for a minute that rick would actually leave Shane !

OP posts:
Melty · 03/03/2012 09:22

I think Shane did too.
I think that Rick might have but then saw the 2 dead cops and was reminded that even if Shane was a wife shagger and murderer of Otis, they were partners. Or something.
Wonder why Shane didnt run out the back door of the bus?

I liked Rick telling Shane that he would do anything to protect his wife and his son and his baby. Listen carefully Shane, I think he might have been warning you.

That conversation with Lori and Andrea was interesting. Because I could kind of see both sides. And thought both were idiotic. Grin
To be honest, while Andrea has been doing Lookout, (which is important on a farm with all the lights saying attack me Zombies) she couldn't have been doing that all the time, and the only walker she has shot/seen turned out to be Daryl. So she really doesn't pull her weight.
If there are that many people living on the farm then one person cannot possibly prepare and cook all that food, and wash up afterwards. And that kind of counts, because stuff has to be properly prepared and cleaning done because they can't afford to get sick in a world with very few medicines.
I just don't see why the wimmen have to do it all though.

Andrea was out of line putting Beth in a position where she could actually kill herself. It wasnt her place to do that. And besides, she is a teenager, life is dramatic enough without Zombies, with hormones everewhere.
She must have forgotten that Dale stopped her from killing herself didnt say "here you go take the gun and if you dont really mean it you'll only blow your ear off and then we will know you want to live"

Did I imagine a scene where Carole was ironing in the 1st season? Now That probably wouldnt be high on my list of priorities, because in this non zombie worl, I only iron when I really have to. Grin

I have been desperate all week to talk about this!

cornsilkalala · 03/03/2012 11:38

Andrea is a nightmare. But so is Lori. In fact all the female characters are awful. Next week's episode seems to have some Daryl in
Shane will challenge Rick for leadership and Rick will kill him I think.
I know who shoots him in the book.

susiedaisy · 03/03/2012 16:43

When lori said to Andrea she didnt need to be a look out as they have enough men to do that, it really annoyed me, not sure why but I felt myself siding with Andrea thinking well why the hell can't a women be a lookoutAngry

OP posts:
limitedperiodonly · 03/03/2012 20:33

It takes no more to be a lookout for 20-30 minutes than boil a potato.

AWimbaWay · 03/03/2012 22:03

I'm still undecided as to whether it'd be preferable to be trapped in the bus waiting to be torn to shreds by a dozen zombies, or stuck back at the farm cooking and cleaning all day.

limitedperiodonly · 04/03/2012 08:18

Grin wimbaway

I've completely changed my mind. Shane and Andrea are right. Rick is constantly doing things that put everyone at risk and Lori is a selfish pain in the arse who does her bit to endanger people too. Neither of them have personally suffered to the extent the others have. Except for Shane who's only lost people he didn't think were useful any more.

I think it's loosely Biblical - this one man with a suicidal sense of morality and his woman who will help him repopulate the world in his image in between doing the dusting.

And the spat between Lori and Andrea over Andrea working on her tan while Lori slaves away making the house fit for the kind of society they want to preserve is a bit Martha and Maryish.

But if they are going to go down the Biblical route I want them to have a full-on apocalyptic struggle. They are living in the Bible Belt. Surely there'd be at least one character who thought it was the End Of Days.

And how much housework is there anyway? I can't remember how many of them there are. About 10? How much mess can they make if they're all doing their bit? You could start with the women cooking if they were the ones who knew how to do it best but there's no reason why the others shouldn't learn and meanwhile they can peel potatoes, wash up, clean the toilets.

Where are they getting their food anyway? Isn't it time for a hog-slaughtering scene?

limitedperiodonly · 04/03/2012 08:23

To clarify: I have no idea what my potato/lookout analogy meant last night. I might have been drinking.

susiedaisy · 04/03/2012 09:15

limited your potato analogy was open to interpretation, so I decided to sit on the fence and see what anyone else thought GrinGrin

Magge
Hershel
Patricia
Jimmy
Beth
Rick
Shane
Lori
Carl
Andrea
Dale
Daryl
Carol
TBone
Glenn

That's a lot of skuddy underpants to boil.
(Except I am sure Shane doesnt wear any. Ick.)
Then there's looking after the horses, baking bread, squeezing the oranges for fresh juice.... ;)

But its a lot of people to feed and clean up after. and do laundry for. I still think that everyone, not just the women should share the chores.
And Lori was right, Andrea doesn't do anything apart from work on her tan.
But when Lori was all : "Let the men do the protecting"
Gnaaaaagh.
That is all.

Melty · 04/03/2012 10:53

And the potato/lookout thing went right over my head Limited. Glad you didnt know what it meant either. Grin

JKSLtd · 04/03/2012 13:56

Forget clean clothes, I think feeding all those people would be a constant source of worry.
Forget having the time to bake fresh bread rolls, from all the books i've read they'd be surviving on tinned stuff and whatever fresh things they could forage - not much if they stay on the farm I would think.

susiedaisy · 04/03/2012 14:41

I am surprised they haven't touched on the issue of food yet, when the uk had fuel strikes several years back our local tesco had shelf clearing and scruffles breaking out over the panic of there being no baby milk nappies etc and that was just a couple of days of interrupted deliveries, rick and his team don't seem to have made any trips to salvage food etc, even when stuck on the highway they didn't really collect tins of food etc out of the cars!

OP posts:
corns1ilkidy · 04/03/2012 16:33

I want to know this: if they can become infected from scratches how can they get away with their faces being splattered in zombie blood and gore? Shane was biting his zombie gore covered fingernails in the car on the way back on Friday.

Melty · 04/03/2012 16:59

The police? I think it will lead back to everybody having the virus. As in the cops got shot dead, then went zombie, then got properly shot dead. (Speculation)
I am not sure that eating zombie bits (boak) while chewing nails would transfer the illness.

limitedperiodonly · 04/03/2012 17:36

There was a fight just now at the meat counter in Sainsbury's. Men, women, kids standing by. I didn't stick around but it might be the beginning of the end. I'm going to get more Basics tins of kidney beans at 19p tomorrow.

I keep thinking about the blood spatters. That was a very heavy hint about scratches wasn't it corns?

Melty · 04/03/2012 17:45

Really, Sainsbos?
What were they fighting over?

Yeah, but the thing about scratches is they are all covered in them.
And Shane cut his hand on purpose while in the bus to bait the walkers. (And why would he even do that when he had a bleeding cut on his head?) #seriously stupid

corns1ilkidy · 04/03/2012 18:10

yes - maybe the scratches hint was linked to the girl in the house who's about to turn into a zombie

Melty · 04/03/2012 18:28

No, shes not going to turn into a Zombie. Well not from the scuffle with the DeadmotherZombie anyway.
Although I am surprised that no one thought "Oh shit, she has a fever, she might be infected"
I think that was just to show us that Andrea is a hard nut interfering so and so and Lori/Maggie are softies idiots .

limitedperiodonly · 04/03/2012 20:46

melty I don't know how it started but 3 police vans were called and I'm trying to overcome the trauma with some Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Bourgogne Aligote. They should have given it to me for nothing.

It wouldn't have happened in Waitrose.

Melty · 04/03/2012 21:06

Grin at" It wouldn't have happened in Waitrose."

See, that will teach you to slum it!

StealthPolarBear · 04/03/2012 23:05

"I hate Maggie second to Lori. Irritant. I think she will be culled as surplus to requirements. Possibly Maggie's sister will gnaw her face off as she leans in to mop her fevered brow."
Yes, and she won't even be a zombie, just really really pissed off with her.

Yes the whole "men protect while women iron" stuff is peeing me off too. Surely they should all (apart from Carl, who still seems to spend his time roaming freely) figure out how to kill and shoot and then they should work on that, shoving some bleach down the loo every now and again?

susiedaisy · 04/03/2012 23:10

I wonder if in the long run men and women would become equals in an apocalypse in as much as we all would be fairly ruthless good hunters shooters etc etc or would we revert back to an almost caveman like situation where the men went a hunting and we women stayed at home gathering,
cooking havin kids etc Hmm

OP posts:
Melty · 04/03/2012 23:26

I suspect that because the only way to continue the survival of the species is getting pregnant (female only job), and no medical care, being pregnant will become scary and women will become "special" and need protecting again-at least once they get pregnant. Then because of nursing (prob to 2ys) and small kiddies not being self sufficient, and the poor women being breeders and probably pregnant all the time, yes, the men will go hunting, and the women will cook/clean etc.

God thats a depressing thought.
