I'm surprised at how placid the baby is.

Dontgetpithywithme · 13/02/2012 21:22

SW had to imo - mother thought the child had already been abused. And drunk so hardly able to protect or care for him. Sad

thinneratforty · 13/02/2012 21:22

How does a 14 month old baby display sexualised behavour?

EirikurNoromaour · 13/02/2012 21:22

hellhasnofury why not? Are you seriously empathising with the mum?

OTTMummA · 13/02/2012 21:22

He doesn't even care his mum isn't there, that seems wrong, so disturbing. Think I'm going to cry!

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 13/02/2012 21:23

That baby's calm reaction would worry me TBH.
Not normal for a baby to be like that in a traumatic situation.

Can be a sign of attachment issues

Oh sorry I misread your post - missed the second 'not'

onadietcokebreak · 13/02/2012 21:24

Crashdoll- I think the theory of what is taught and how practice is undertaken in reality are too different things. Right or wrong.

GoingForGoalWeight · 13/02/2012 21:24

Police car was outside. Gosh i hope that baby wasn't harmed by the sex offender. Sad

WhereMyMilk · 13/02/2012 21:24

Friend who is an emergency foster carer always is worried with babies who have no attachment issues.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 13/02/2012 21:24

erirk Hellhath said she would go with him.

tigerlillyd02 · 13/02/2012 21:24

From what I gathered (don't know the ins and outs of these sorts of things) but the police removed the child on an emergency protection order and they will then need to go to court if they keep the child in care longer term. Someone who works in that area would know more but that's what I assumed from what they said.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 13/02/2012 21:25

Glad thats sorted then Grin

Dammit I am supposed to be reading 'The importance of the law in social work practice' tonight - not watching tv

nailak · 13/02/2012 21:26

What is a guardian, what are there qualifications is it their job?

oliverreed · 13/02/2012 21:26

thinneratforty - several ways unfortunately and the behaviour was mentioned at the beginning and the mum herself suspects the child has been abused. A trained paediatrician will now examine this child and confirm whether abuse has taken place.

onadietcokebreak · 13/02/2012 21:26

Liking the childrens guardian.

thekidsrule · 13/02/2012 21:27

whether the child has been abused or not,the fact is he was in the care of a sex offender of 30yrs offences, mother drunk and probably numerous other things, thank god we didnt have numerous conferences, chats and months of "help" before the health and safety of the babe were investigated

good to see that in a very serious case the SW acted very promptly

Selks · 13/02/2012 21:27

The police were in with him. The police have the power to apply the PPO.

Don't make the mistake of expecting a TV show to show every little detail though.

Kayano · 13/02/2012 21:27

That baby is Gorgeous.

Not convinced about ages for attachment issues. I was fostered for first 6 months then adopted and I don't have any attachment issues Sad

It's so so hard!

hellhasnofury · 13/02/2012 21:27

I'm pleased to see the social worker fighting louise's corner.

I would never choose a man over my child in that other case. Never.

GoingForGoalWeight · 13/02/2012 21:27

I'm sure Bristol SS featured an awful lot in the media, not so long ago. Not for anything good.
I'll Google later on.

nailak · 13/02/2012 21:27

Surely if.they rush her off methadone its more likely she will relapse.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 13/02/2012 21:27

What if gran cant cope with a new baby?
So unfair on gran.

Should point out that removal of child like that is rare and only done if the child is in immediate risk of harm.
