Nailak children can be taught how to form attachments by loving and patient carers, in order that they can go on and form new attachments to adopters or other adults. It isn't ideal to foster attachment to a temporary carer but it is better than a child growing up with no ability to attach.

Kayano · 13/02/2012 21:36

How do people live like that?!?!

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 13/02/2012 21:36

thinner it can be a sign of disordered attachment. It means that a child does not know who to trust/distrust. It is not normal for a child to be happy with lots of different people to that extent.

It is normal for them to be distressed when seperated from their primary carer, particularly in such traumatic circumstances.

It can also be a sign (along with lots of other markers) of sexual abuse

I, at this time, really feel deeply sorry for this new woman. She is depressed or something.
I think she hates living there.

NotnOtter · 13/02/2012 21:37

surely a mental health assessment would be needed on this woman...?

EirikurNoromaour · 13/02/2012 21:37

Children with healthy attachments are happy with people they know and wary of strangers. Babies who don't seem to mind who they are with, don't get upset when separated from their parents etc often don't have secure attachments.

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 13/02/2012 21:37

Seems she hasn't BEEN living there...

lisad123 · 13/02/2012 21:37

Marking my space as watching on sky plus and about 20 mins behind you all.

looks like the house got on top of her. Deprssion?

Oodle · 13/02/2012 21:38

FFS no child should have to live in that squalor. Get the kid out of there.

nailak · 13/02/2012 21:38

Sorry for my ignorance but what happens to someone who can't attatch?

crashdoll · 13/02/2012 21:39

All I can think is, that I bet that poor woman has no idea how to clean up.

Thank you for the explanations. Am marvelling at the social workers this week, could not do their job, wondering how they cope really?

HJisthinkingofanewname · 13/02/2012 21:39

They'll send her to the GP at least.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 13/02/2012 21:39

Its a matter of context though Stranded. All mine have been very laid back and friendly apart from my DS who was neglected. He was very clingly and anxious.

Please someone tell me they haven't sent the baby boy back with the sex offender still there?

Kayano · 13/02/2012 21:39

That guy done for crack again and she stays. Surely she should realise
That is presence now may hamper her chances Sad

I wonder what she will do?

hellhasnofury · 13/02/2012 21:40

Another sad story. What a state that house is in. Where do you begin to clear that mess.

nailak · 13/02/2012 21:40

My dcs also love strangers and I was always worried they would be easy to kidnap!

MariaCallous · 13/02/2012 21:40

Does she really believe that his relapse will have no impact on her chances of getting the baby back? Can't see it happening with Wayne there.

oliverreed · 13/02/2012 21:40

As long as Wayne is around she doesn't stand much of a chance of keeping her daughter

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 13/02/2012 21:40

She has done well to stay clean whilst he was doing gear.
He now sounds like a nob.
