I was 12 when my dad died, I did not go off the rails, it is a cop out.
I feel so sorry for any child with that for a mother and a jailbird dad Sad

sodapops · 08/02/2012 21:31

DN had a forceps delivery in theatre about 6 months ago.

I had a ventouse in the delivery room with DS1. They said they would use forceps if that failed but never talkeed of going to theatre. I would prefer a CS to forceps TBH.

PamPerdbrat · 08/02/2012 21:31

No I'd rather a cs than forceps too! You see them really putting their body weight behind forceps and I can't imagine the subsequent pain and damage it must cause Sad

NotnOtter · 08/02/2012 21:31

i've had three babies in that hospital and only the iduced one was i lying down ( was a bit nasty maybe mcroberts?) the others i was standing on a crash mat

hellsbells76 · 08/02/2012 21:31

they said something to her about the drip not really working so i assumed synto.

EquestrianStatue · 08/02/2012 21:31

Maybe she was just knackered! I pushed for nearly 2 hrs with ds1, in pool, on side, on all fours, I ended up in semi sitting/lying position as I was too bloody exhausted for anything else. My legs couldn't hold me up!

choppychopster · 08/02/2012 21:32

I had forceps in theatre with DD1 as labour was so slow and she was starting to get distressed. DD2 due in April - really hope it's more straightforward this time around.

bigeyes · 08/02/2012 21:32

Just joined at last ads, n catching up

So hello all and pooh Ive co e toned to watch with my box of two vanilla crowns.

Cs booked on 14th, was getting nervous but now watching this I am pleased oh long story bother thread , but there you go....

I a sad re young mum as she seems so so young.

HoneyWithLemon · 08/02/2012 21:32

I was in Dawn's position. One push with forceps to turn DD2's head and she was out. My GP said we would both have died without modern obstetrics Sad.

mousebacon · 08/02/2012 21:32

Me too verbal

PamPerdbrat · 08/02/2012 21:32

stranded some people can't help but judge younger mums. You get used to it!

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 08/02/2012 21:33

id rather have a cs than forceps.
poor thing looks terrified

Lacuna · 08/02/2012 21:33

'that' for a mother??? You're a charmer, aren't you Echidna?

Evilwater · 08/02/2012 21:33

I see a theatre, I hope she will be ok.

RabidEchidna · 08/02/2012 21:33

All those monitors around Dawn look scary, poor woman

allnightlong · 08/02/2012 21:33

Rabid thats a bit harsh just because you didn't doesn't mean someone else is weaker for having done.
What's wrong with her mum, she seems loving and supportive? Confused

QED · 08/02/2012 21:33

My forceps were in the delivery room as well.

RubyLovesMayMay · 08/02/2012 21:33

My Mum was 17 when she had my older sister, then had me at 20, then my little sis at 24. Then had two boys in her 30s. Single Mum to all of us.

The amount of stick she's have probably gotten if MN was around then Hmm

PamPerdbrat · 08/02/2012 21:33

Can you request a cs instead of forceps?

Snowboarder · 08/02/2012 21:34

I can sympathise stranded , but I don't really understand. It does sadden me that GL has a partner in and out of jail - it's not ideal no matter how you look at it. That said, she might be a wonderful mother and the baby might help straighten out the father. Who knows.

Charlotteperkins · 08/02/2012 21:34

Legs up in the air like that looks horrendous- so exposed to a crowded room. Can't imagine anything worse- don't know how others cope tbh.

If I had the choice between forceps and a CS...oh bloody hell I would go for the CS, jesus look at those forceps argggh!

HoneyWithLemon · 08/02/2012 21:34

My forceps were keillands, apparently. Two flat plates. Aren't used much and need an expert hand. GP was very impressed, once he'd stopped banging on about how lucky we were to be alive Grin.
