But if she does move to Wales then he's got lots of nice clues as to where to go next when he's let out
I get the impression there is a lot of support for James' mother on the production team and via the experts, and that the programme has possibly helped her with parenting and keeping her family together
I know they have to compress storylines and events for the series but I was staggered how quickly the little boy in N Ireland was put on ritalin for ADHD (last week's). Was he really that badly off?
My take on the mad Yorkshire household is that the mum is struggling just as badly with parenting as Carol (James' mum) is but because she is in a stable relationship and they are materially well off it is just not subjected to the same editorial angle. I feel pretty sorry for her actually - she has admitted to being cripplingly shy and her husband and sons have scarily strong personalities.

Some of his attacks on Charles made me wince. I would go ape if DS punched anyone like that.

Marina · 23/01/2006 14:07

I missed about Het being sent away to school . FGS! Ds would be boarding permanently on Neptune by that family's standards...

Blu · 23/01/2006 14:07

Marina - I think you are right.

misdee · 23/01/2006 14:07

did williams mum go to parent and toddler groups to try and overcome her shyness?

i get a feelig there is too much testosterone in that house.

Marina · 23/01/2006 14:08

In earlier series Gillian (William and Charles' mum) seemed in the grip of bad depression IMO. No eye contact with camera etc. Soul in torment I'd say

misdee · 23/01/2006 14:08

i think james family should pull out of the programmes for now, till its safe.

Marina · 23/01/2006 14:09

misdee, I think she did. At times she seemed almost in pain talking about her own childhood and ability to make friends. (in previous series but it has stayed with me, because all the focus seemed to be on families with dramatic crises such as Helena's, James' etc)

agree that the yorkshire family are the most depressing on it

the dad clearly adores william and loves the fact he is such a thuggish brat. Poor charles.

Marina · 23/01/2006 14:10

Sorry, x post misdee. Maybe Carol is showing her ex she won't give up by continuing to appear - and maybe she feels "protected" on some level by her involvement.

I liked the twins too. So sweet.

Enid · 23/01/2006 14:11

annoys me that if that behaviour came from one of the lower class families they'd be instantly judging his lack of dad etc

i like matthew's relationship with his older brother. dd1+2 are like that most of the time.

LIZS · 23/01/2006 14:12

Exaclty endi , it is almost as if William is evrythign which Charles has failed to be in their father's eyes , and how he does show it. Hopefully the change of school will help calm things down.

god yes, couldn't believe the thing about Het possibly being sent half-way round the world at the ripe old age of 5 or 6 to sort her (quite normal) behaviour out. Surely that sort of thing would damage you for life?
Dh felt rather smug and shocked at the violence between some of those siblings. Ours (6, 4, 2) are lovely to each other and play together very much. I'd be horrified if one of them attacked a sibling. The worst we've had is a shove (and a minor bite).

4blue1pink · 23/01/2006 14:17

Glad you all agree....I was a bit stunned by Mums apparent acceptance of spitting in a face as being a 'smilable' about act.

As for Het - bring her here I will have her - I am a disciplinarian but children are only children and should be allowed to be such!

So sweet crying over baby brother and HOW beautiful was she?????

mmh, Het just seems like a 'sassy' little girl. Really cute but proably at PITA at times. I presume her parents have extremely set ideas on how she should be, and she doesn't fit that mold. Poor thing.

4blue1pink · 23/01/2006 14:20

You think she ever had one ????( cynic in my dh said they wanted a boy......)
