Cannot do VE without her consent- they still don't know if she's fully dilated yet...

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2012 21:48

48 minutes in and not a single baby.

Dotty342kids · 01/02/2012 21:49

Oh poor Jess......

bigeyes · 01/02/2012 21:49

Oh felt bad for staff then as they can see how it has risks.

ImpOfThePerverse · 01/02/2012 21:49

Theme this week must be long labours!

NotnOtter · 01/02/2012 21:49

too awful.....
they should have put that epidural in regardless imo - i know i'll be criticised for that

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/02/2012 21:49

TeamEdward - no, horrid blonde was on at beginning.
Poor Jess

jaffacakehips · 01/02/2012 21:49

OhDo very true!

Jess's friend, Charlotte is lovely.

HoneyWithLemon · 01/02/2012 21:50

Why did they give her the diamorphine in the first place? She was coping ok. She might be a bit more biddable if she wasn't off her face, poor thing.

Charlotteperkins · 01/02/2012 21:50

If she has the urge to push it is highly likely she is fully dilated- they should let her respond to her own body.

Getting her stressed will be releasing adrenaline which will interfere with the progress.

Flisspaps · 01/02/2012 21:50

It's making me very angry.

How on earth can you get express, informed consent from a woman who is in pain, who is refusing but is being badgered by at least THREE midwives and her mother in her face Angry

She has said no. Once should be enough.

Dotty342kids · 01/02/2012 21:50

I was just thinking that Otter, knock her out and get the baby out!!

ClicksArse · 01/02/2012 21:50

Oooh! Fajitas (sorry Blush)

pooka · 01/02/2012 21:50

I don't think explaining more would make a difference really - she's knackered, wiped out.

I like all the midwives tonight actually.

HoneyWithLemon · 01/02/2012 21:50

And where did the baby daddy go? Not that he'd be much use...

AmberLeaf · 01/02/2012 21:51

Im shocked and disgusted, I really thought it wasnt like this anymore.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 01/02/2012 21:51

I was 43 and on my 5th DC before I could say NO to VEs. I found them incredibly painful. The worst part of labour.

Cutelittlecatlover · 01/02/2012 21:51

Grr ffs this is making angry now leave the poor girl alone she's already said she doesn't want a ve!

fatsatsuma · 01/02/2012 21:51

No time to read back thru thread but why why WHY is Jess still strapped to a monitor and lying on a bed? Why don't they get her upright and moving around??

HoneyWithLemon · 01/02/2012 21:51

Jess's labour is reminding me of Betty Draper's....

bumpsnowjustplump · 01/02/2012 21:51

I had a lip on my cervix with dd1 and labour was 36 hours. I had to resist pushing it was hard.. My mw explained everything to me though and so I understood the risks poor jess..

Charlotteperkins · 01/02/2012 21:51

They did 3 VEs to me when I explicitly refused them.

Happens all the time.

Flisspaps · 01/02/2012 21:51

NotnOtter They were right not to put the epidural in anyway. I don't see how asking someone who is basically asleep if they would agree to an epidural could count as getting consent.

bigeyes · 01/02/2012 21:51

Is it normal to be soo so out of it, she doesn't seem to be able to take things on board clearly at all?

I've never laboured at all you see,

HoneyWithLemon · 01/02/2012 21:52

They'll be shaving her and giving her an enema next...
