Pete has spent the evening baiting an already jittery Preston and Chantelle.
Housemates were earlier given a 'banking task' with Preston and Chantelle as the directors. The pair thought their role as 'directors' of the Big Brother Bank was to ensure housemates (or 'bankers') passed the tasks and would thus get a luxury shopping budget. However, the true task came to light later, with the rest of the house being told they must fail at least two of the three tasks in order to win the budget.
Not content with merely failing the tasks, Pete decided to spend his evening trying to bait Chantelle and Preston into revealing their secret. He teased them relentlessly about how they would have got changed together in the small diary room without getting sweaty, calling Chantelle an "accomplished liar."
Preston protested vociferously against the continued vitriol from Pete, asking: "Why would I lie? I'm serious." Pete was eventually asked by Michael to stop baiting the pair. Michael had earlier drawn housemates away from the living room after images of Preston and Chantelle enjoying themselves in a secret 'private member's club' were shown.
During the coin-counting task, Pete concentrated his energies on a flustered Chantelle, persistently questioning her on what she and Preston had been talking about in the diary room for the time they had been in there. "I smell a rat," he hinted. "I can smell liars when I walk into a room."
"Something went on in that Diary Room," he added. "You two came out in a completely different manner. You manufactured a whole story. I object to you manufacturing an alibi... you should get a dictionary and check out the definition of liar."
Attempts to diffuse the situation from both Michael and George were met with disdain from the Dead or Alive singer, who later told Chantelle: "I know you've got the best capacity of anyone in this building to lie and get away with it."
Reaching the end of her tether, Chantelle begged the housemates to drop the matter, telling Preston and George: "Some people should realise that we're doing things for their own good and not bad. George, bear that in mind will you?"
"I'm trying to shut them up, for God's sake," George replied, clearly near to the end of his, too.
