What the bloody hell is this sarky voiceover in Waybuloo about?

It sounds like the new man at Big Barn Farm: very brisk and a little bit sarky, so it's quite an amusing addition (Grin), but just a bit bizarre, in the saccharine world of Nara!

Also, I'm sure I've seen this banana-stealing episode, without the voiceovers!

It's weird isn't it?! Is it the guy from Come Dine with Me?

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 09/01/2012 18:06

Hah I was wondering that! It's like a crossover with Come dine with me!

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 09/01/2012 18:06

X-post!

nomoremagnolia · 09/01/2012 18:07

reminds me of craig charles voice over in takeshi's castle

LiviaAugusta · 09/01/2012 18:07

It's Dave Lamb, the man who does Come Dine With Me! I think it's a definite improvement...

LiviaAugusta · 09/01/2012 18:07

Whoops, x-post! Blush

LordFlashheart · 09/01/2012 18:08

Wtf

plutocrap · 09/01/2012 18:09

A bit like the bits of the Simpsons which are meant to go over the kiddies' heads.

Have to laugh at this one:
"Stand by to be painted, Banana!

HAHAHAHAHA

Came here to say the same. WTF? It was shite before, but at least it was quite quiet. I'm finding it hard to ignore

nomoremagnolia · 09/01/2012 18:09

not the voice btw but the totally unecessary sarky commentary

plutocrap · 09/01/2012 18:10

Oh, it's brilliant.

DS says "He's telling the story of Nara."

Bless him.

"It's not just you who will be eating a banana now."

Grin

I do hope they continue this.

Fuck me it really is Dave lamb. Who's idea was that?

nomoremagnolia · 09/01/2012 18:13

they've sped it up too. I need at least 15 mins to clear up after teatime, that was waybuloo's job!

Chesterado · 09/01/2012 18:13

I thought it was rik mayall!

Dd not impressed even less that they finished early.

Fo0ffyShmo0ffer · 09/01/2012 18:14

Well I've not seen it in a while. I'm going to make a point of watching now.

CailinDana · 09/01/2012 18:16

Haha I can't wait to tell DH about it, he'll be very annoyed he missed it!

Why do all the kids in Waybuloo look like they're being lined up for execution?

plutocrap · 09/01/2012 18:17

I've finally looked up Dave Lamb, and have realised he was in Goodness Gracious Me - very funny then.

(Disclaimer: I'm too square to watch grown-up television like Come Dine With Me)

I know they're trying to squeeze a 20 minute programme into a 10 minute slot now but I'm not sure just speeding everything up, (including the closing credits, or did I just imagine that?) overly works. What with it being the supposed nice relaxing bedtime hour and all Hmm

No, not a fan....

nomoremagnolia · 09/01/2012 18:42

I don't think you imagined it bananarama, it was fast. Did the bongleberries get spiked or something?

MarkStretch · 09/01/2012 19:28

Just found this on the Cbeebies website;

CBeebies is refreshing the 'Bedtime Hour' for the New year! Changes are being made to the programmes and because we understand that this time can be an important part of a family?s evening routine, we're letting you know what's going to happen and when its going to happen.

From Monday 9th January there will be a new line up to the 'Bedtime Hour'. From 6.00pm will be brand new versions of 'Waybuloo' narrated by Dave Lamb and this will be followed by 'Driver Dan's Storytrain' to add programmes that appeal to all ages at bedtime. The ever popular 'In The Night Garden' and the 'Bedtime Story' will round off the day to prepare Cbeebies viewers for bed.

Tinkerisdead · 09/01/2012 19:31

My dd came rushing in to say 'the telly is talking to me' it was very weird!!

LaTristesse · 09/01/2012 19:55

Agree, we hated it. Thought it sounded like a cross between Come Dine and Charly Bear. Ruined Waybuloo... If it ain't broke CBeebies... Angry

theliverpoolone · 09/01/2012 20:29

Aha! I thought I recognised the voice, and rushed out of the kitchen when it was finishing to check the credits, but they whizzed through too quickly! I agree, LaTristesse, I thought it sounded very like James Corden on Charley Bear too. Very bizarre - not sure it worked (although I hate Waybuloo anyway Grin).

ihaveforgottenmyname · 09/01/2012 20:56

It was very weird and my boys weren't keen on it. Why change something when there was nothing wrong with it?! They changed the bedtime song too!

Lyftiduft · 09/01/2012 21:01

It's hideous. The one thing we regularly watch on Cbeebies and now ruined :( Angry A lovely calming relaxing end to the day hyped up and completely spoilt. DS loves both opening and closing credits, both been cut down. The 'narration' is terrible, and it takes away watching it together- there's no time for a parent to comment now ("where is De Li going DS? Do you think she'll find xyz?" etc etc).

I wanted to start my first AIBU but thought I'd check here first Grin
