Can't believe there isn't a thread already!

Can't wait for tonight: the first series was amazing, and far too short!

Plus Benedict Cumberbatch = yum!

They were never blown up in the last series. The final episode ended with Sherlock pointing his gun at the bomb, but he never pulled the trigger.

At the end of the last one they weren't quite blown up, it just looked like they were about to be.

NinkyNonker · 02/01/2012 13:06

I was so glad this came back, last night's episode was brilliant. A whole new side to Sherlock, and his brother I thought.

LineRunner · 02/01/2012 16:31

Did a bomb go off at some point in the previous one? My DCs seem very confident about this, but then again they could be watching too many Rambo DVDs.

Trills · 02/01/2012 16:49

I don't think so.

The jacket-full-of explosives was on the floor, Sherlock was pointing a gun either at the jacket or at Moriarty, and there were red dots on Sherlock and Watson showing that someone else (unseen people hired by Moriarty) had guns trained on them.

SantasCave · 02/01/2012 17:53

There were several bombs throughout the final episode of series 1, but not at the swimming pool.

I liked it well enough but didn't think it was quite as good as the first series.

I thought Sherlock was almost a bit too strange, almost a parody of himself. I also thought his violin-playing was spectacularly fake.

I was possibly a little too tired and hungover to appreciate it fully, but I found it pretty confusing. I know it is meant to be confusing, but I thought it was all over the place. And there were some unrealistic/continuity issues. Where was Watson's limp?

Looking forward to next week's episode though. I do love Benny.

Furball · 02/01/2012 18:37

I did wonder where Watsons limp and stick were Confused

Trills · 02/01/2012 18:39

His limp and stick disappeared at the end of the very first episode - his limp was all in his head and when he got involved in exciting crime-fighting he ran off and forgot his stick because he didn't need it any more.

WowOoo · 02/01/2012 18:42

I saw it and thought it was really well done.
Slick, funny, implausible and highly entertaining. And very confusing in parts Confused but I think I mostly got it..

Is there another one coming soon?

wintera · 02/01/2012 18:43

I thought it was great up until that last final scene where he saved her. And yes. I know it's all very far fetched but that bit was just a step too far for me.

wintera · 02/01/2012 18:45

I think it's on again next week. Mark Gatiss has put something on twitter about it being the hound of the Baskervilles one!

Katisha · 02/01/2012 18:47

I would be able to help him look as though he was playing the violin more convincingly...

HereKittyKitty · 02/01/2012 18:55

Oh yes, thanks Trills I had forgotten that about his limp.

Katisha it didn't seem like they'd brought in a fiddler to help him, his fingering wasn't so bad (ooh-er!) it was his bowing arm that didn't follow the legato music. I think we should volunteer for the next series?

SESthebrave · 02/01/2012 18:58

Loved it and really pleased to see it back although a shame it's only 3 episodes. Looking forward to the Hound of the Baskervilles next week :)

I actually liked the ending and was pleased that he had saved her. Yes - not quite sure how, but hey he's Sherlock Holmes!

However, I did also notice the unconvincing violin playing Hmm and they did rather conveniently get out of the bomb situation at the beginning...

Katisha · 02/01/2012 18:59

He was having a go at vibrato as well, but could do better!

And apart from that the sound of the violin was all wrong for the acoustic.

Furball · 02/01/2012 19:00

Thanks trills about the limp - I had forgotten

I'm surprised I manage to keep up with it as I can't usually with complicated films and that, but it's excellent and the best thing on tv atm.

KellyKettle · 02/01/2012 20:20

Can someone explain to me what the point of all the dead bodies on the plane was? Why not just let the terrorists blow up an empty plane?

Loved it but wasn't expecting to so only started paying attention 20 mins or so in.

SantasCave · 02/01/2012 20:30

They had to put bodies on board so that the terrorists would think they had succeeded. They would need a list of the dead, random body parts, etc to make the event look real.

Ahhhhhh the bit with the present from Molly was SUPER CRINGE!

I love this series Xmas Grin

poorbuthappy · 02/01/2012 22:54

I just watched it tonight.
And I am quite amazed how they managed to ruin 89 minutes of fab telly with that ending.
I swore at the tele.

KellyKettle · 03/01/2012 09:20

Thanks Santascave, eeeew.

HarrietJones · 03/01/2012 14:20

Russell Tovey on it next week too

carlajean · 03/01/2012 15:52

well..I really enjoyed it but wish they had left out the sexual stuff - why couldn't she be a powerful intelligent woman without this. I was watching it with my teenage son and felt uncomfortable.

nailak · 05/01/2012 11:10

i just watched this, anyone else think sherlock is on the spectrum?
