This is impossible to stop watching. I know it's been exaggerated for tv, but why would ANYONE want to become PM? Without the pig bit, it probably isn't an impossible situation

Well that was 50 minutes of my life I won't get back. Revolting, offensive to poor Kate Middleton, around whom the whole thing was clearly a pastiche and just plain ridiculous. It didn't even appear to be making a point at the end of it.

I am not a fan of Charlie Brooker - even less now.

How did anyone not think this was a great piece of TV? Illustrates so many points about what kind of people we have become.
The guy who did it had a point... I'm looking forward to next week's eisode which apparently revoles around an X Factor style show.

The moronic writers got it totally got it wrong, IMO. Scummy and foul as some of our society can be, I hold a little candle of hope that people wouldn;t all gang up in pubs and at home to watch the PM fucking a pig.
It was really, really, moronic. Kiddy phsychology and shock factor at its worst. No twist, no thinking required - it all centred around SEX WITH A PIG.
Depressing.

Remarkable. I thought it was losing its way when they started saying 'the party says you have to do this...' (definitely the most unrealistic aspect, as no-one would ever deviate from the 'we do not negotiate' stance) but then the ending really pulled it back. Yes, bad taste, but that was the point. Plus it did keep you watching to see how it would ultimately unfold. Commentary on Blair, Brown and modern society! Impressive stuff.

Charlie Brooker is such a knob, he desperatly tries to play this 'I'm above all this social media shallowness' character who is above everything shallow and trite yet he feckin tweets about the minute of his day 'Oh, buying a fridge now'

unacceptablebehaviour it was not great tv. It was amateurish. Next week's one looked a bit more promising, I think. I just feel dirty after watching this, as another poster mentioned. In real life woulod the PM EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER do that sick deed? No! So it's just pointless pretending he would. Even more offensive is suggesting that people think he should!

I actually thought it was good. Thought provoking. I think it could have been done a lot better as a 2 hour programme - showing more debate with his wife, more quotes from the general public etc Most interesting thing that's been on TV for a while I thought.

On deviating from a "we do not negotiate" stance. I thought that was one of the most interesting points made - that this has always been the case but that social media has given the public the power to control these things so much more than ever before.

I also think the public would overwhelmingly agree that he should, once the drama started to build.

Anyway, it's making a satirical point, it doesn't have to be realistic! Do you refuse to watch Dr Who because the Tardis couldn't really exist?

I enjoyed it. It wasn't as thought-provoking as some people think it was trying to be, but it was quite a well-observed parody of our obsession with social media. Oh, and Charlie Brooker is allowed to both utilise and criticise modern technology - or has the poster who had a go never done the same?
