[sweeps into a contra-check]

New thread, mark your places for tonight's show Grin

Feel stupid now! I was wondering why Anton etc were hovering last night. I really thought the results show was live, doh!

TartyMcFarty · 27/11/2011 20:10

So when do they close the phone lines? Confused

AmIthatbad · 27/11/2011 20:16

Phone lines are really only open for about half an hour or so on a Saturday night. Then they film the final results.

Snowstorm · 27/11/2011 20:18

Okay, Anita's gone (impressed she managed to remain dry-eyed through her thank you's at the end). Next week Robbie. Then Alex. Chelsee and Harry for the top two - Jason is less reliable and so I'd put him in 3rd place.

ScatterChasse · 27/11/2011 20:19

Where are you putting Holly Snowstorm? I'd probably choose her over Jason for the final.

AmIthatbad · 27/11/2011 20:25

I hope think Robbie next week, then Alex, then hopefully Jason. Don't think Holly will win, but I am liking her more and more every week, which surprises me. I don't mind whether Chelsee or Harry win. I like them both

Snowstorm · 27/11/2011 20:33

Oops - well that was kind of telling wasn't it!! Hmmmm ... well I rate her above Jason, so she'd be third, only I think she has a popularity problem as people aren't getting her.

WhoIsThatMaskedWoman · 27/11/2011 20:42

I think Holly will go next week unless the judges over mark her in a desperate attempt to keep her in. She's clearly Box Office Poison in the manner of Lisa Snowdon et al.
Robbie's obviously got a lot of public support, and I assume that Harry must have screaming hordes of menopausal teenaged girls voting for him, ditto Jason? Chelsee is the type you'd normally expect to be short of votes but she's an appealing personality, and she's very popular on the Digital Spy polls, which are quite reliable. I wouldn't expect Alex to be attracting lots of votes but she has a shedload of Twitter followers (not as many as Robbie though).

So I'd guess the eliminations as:
Holly
Alex + Robbie
Chelsee
Jason
Harry

But I could be wrong and Robbie could have enough votes to carry him through to an entirely undeserved final place at the expense of Jason. Will be very interesting to see who's in the bottom two with Holly next week.

ScatterChasse · 27/11/2011 20:50

See, I really like Holly, but then I have a friend very like her in temperament (gosh, that sounds like I'm describing a dog or something, but you know what I mean Grin), so whereas some people are saying she's not bothered, I'm not seeing that.

I think if Jason gets a 'boring' dance he might be in trouble, as I haven't found his jive or his Charleston particularly memorable, whereas they're usually a bit different and more memorable iyswim.

AitchTwoOh · 27/11/2011 20:52

am watchign the results show now Chelsee DEFINITELY loves Pasha.

RedBlanket · 27/11/2011 21:01

I thought it might have been to Robbie this week, think he's had his time. Shame Anita couldn't dance with Robin for her last dance.

I think it will be Harry, Chelsee and Jason in the top 3.

AK - don't think they will let him have a week off, the rules say only if you can't dance on doctors orders.

ScatterChasse · 27/11/2011 21:02

Robin's foot must be really quite bad if he wasn't even there. Artem was the other week...

RedBlanket · 27/11/2011 21:08

Scatter - I wondered about that too. As a pro he's probably danced through a few injuries as well, so to not make it to the studio, he must have been really bad. Have they said what happened to him?

CaveMum · 27/11/2011 21:19

They just said he had a serious infection in his foot which had caused it to swell and left him in a lot of pain.

I think he's been in hospital for at few days, but he said he was on strong antibiotics and had been told to keep all weight off the foot.
I didn't see him in any of the training footage either, unlike Artem how choreographed everything for Holly and Brendan.

Skillbo · 27/11/2011 22:41

The right person person went, I think... Anita was poor last week and even her love of dance couldn't carry her through this week. Was sorry that Robin couldn't be there - I also wondered why he wasn't there but it was sweet he managed to speak with Anita as she went though..

As to the others, I only watched the last three last night (Chelsee, Jason & Harry) so caught up on the rest today - made me change my mind on a couple as well... most notably Jason. I wasn't blown away last night but after watching all the dances which came before it, I thought it was actually pretty good, especially in comparison to the other Charleston.. Alex & James looked the part but that was it really!

I also thought Harry was amazing - really the best dance of the night by a mile and for once (imo), deserving of all the 10's! I thought Holly was also fab and was really surprised to see her in the bottom 2...

Chelsee was excellent as well - but as others have said, she's supposed to be an actress so not too sure why she couldn't 'pretend' to be passionately in love with Pasha (I'm also thinking she lurves him!)...

Think Robbie needs to do the off next but was very sorry to see the news about his friend... poor man!

AprilAl · 28/11/2011 00:18

Who is voting for Robbie? He really needs to go now, he's by far the weakest dancer left and thinks he's waaaay sexier than he actually is. I'm utterly bored of the gyrations now and that full monty moment was just cringeworthy.

I've had enough of Jason now too. His dancing's good, I just find myself groaning every time he opens his mouth. The earnest humility he keeps spouting is painful to listen to and I think that little snippet on the results show of him singing "I am the one and only" was much more of an window into his real thoughts. Shame he's so irritating though - he is a good dancer and I love watching Kristina.

For those of you saying "but she's an actress" about Chelsee - have you actually seen her act? I hadn't, but I was curious the other day so I watched an episode of Waterloo Road. Maybe I just picked a bad episode...but...
If you haven't seen her "act" then give it a go - It explains a thing or two Wink
That being said, I think she's a great dancer, she's consistently grown on me, right from week one and I really hope she's in the final.

Harry - Yes, he's very good, but I've never really found myself getting excited about him before. His quickstep tonight though was fab and absolutely deserving of that score.

Holly - shame she seems so unpopular, I really enjoy watching her and Artem and would like them to stay in a while longer yet (A Chelsee/Harry/Holly final would be good). It really wouldn't have been fair if she'd gone instead of Anita.

So who have I missed?
Oh yeah, Alex...
Funny that

Really enjoyed the professional dances this week. More of that please :)

AitchTwoOh · 28/11/2011 00:33

aw, everyone stop being mean about alex... she's doing very well esp when you consider how genuinely awful she was in the beginning.

TheHumancatapult · 28/11/2011 04:30

yep she has probably come the furthest from when you look back and i like watching her and James together .

For me Robbie can go now and truth i rather he had gone before Anita

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 28/11/2011 10:12

Re: Robbie and Gary Speed, I don't mean to sound unsympathetic but will he get a pass through? People have only got passes before for serious injury to themselves or the death of immediate family members.

On the show, I didn't mind Anita going, even though I liked her; she had reached her limit. Pity Robin wasn't there for her final show though. I thought her routine was nice and I loved her outfit.

Alex was quite good and Craig was harsh (and I usually agree with him).
LOVED Holly; great routine to a surprising piece of music. She pulled it off with real flair and attitude.
Jason was good, but the whole thing felt a bit laboured, like he was trying really hard to be goofy and effortless.
Tired of Robbie's stunts now. Ola should spend a bit more time drilling him in basic technique rather than thinking up 'japes'; I think he's capable of decent dancing if he put a bit more work in.
Chelsee was great technically. Agree it could have smouldered a bit more, but it was still my favourite dance of the night.
Harry: technically excellent but I'm afraid I just don't enjoy his performances. I don't feel that he has much expression. Bit dull and plankish. He'll probably win though.

Liked the pro dances; how nice that they didn't do music-video gyrating for a change! And Erin and Anton were gorgeous in their Viennese waltz.

ceebeegeebies · 28/11/2011 10:40

I don't think he will get a pass through next week but I definitely think his routine next week will be dedicated to Gary Speed and his VT re training will focus on it therefore he will gain the 'sympathy' vote and therefore get through next week anyway. I certainly don't think Robbie will be his usual exuberant self next week Sad

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 28/11/2011 10:50

ceebee, no, he won't, and I agree that he will get the sympathy vote.
Which will be interesting as it might mean a shock exit for someone else better instead ...

AvadaKedavra · 28/11/2011 13:18

Yes Robbie may get a sympathy vote but I should imagine he will be genuinely torn today as to carrying on or pulling out, whatever, his mind will certainly not be on training and might not put in great performance.

Even if he does get sympathy votes, without knowing the % voting for the other couples it's impossible to predict if it would be enough to save him. Plus many people if sympathy voting would likely vote for Robbie AND their usual favourite no? I would if I ever voted. [only vote at finals]

Dipped into DIgital Spy last night to peek at result as had to go out, lovely to have lots and lots about SCD to read [geek] but jeeze there's some really nasty comments about Chelsee! Sincerely hope she doesn't read them...

AvengingGerbil · 28/11/2011 16:44

Just watched Saturday's show again. Thought it was disappointing that none of the judges managed to say anything to Aliona at all and it was left to Brucie to say something nice about her work.

I know she doesn't have a big fan club on here, but I thought it was unkind.

AprilAl · 28/11/2011 16:44

Aitch I do agree that she's come a long way, she really was awful in the beginning. She just doesn't do anything for me, I find her entirely forgettable.

Of course it doesn't help her case that she's with James. I find him irritating and would gladly see the back of him at the best of times, but he's been even more petulant and mouthy than usual this series

AvadaKedavra · 28/11/2011 19:07

Why would they comment on Aliona's dancing though? it's Harry they are judging.
