[sweeps into a contra-check]

New thread, mark your places for tonight's show Grin

TheHumancatapult · 19/11/2011 20:19

Think be Anita and either Jason or grant in bottom 2

CaveMum · 19/11/2011 20:22

Hijack away, I'm very out of the loop on the salsa scene! I did a congress a few years ago and Mo Flex was teaching, he's very good.

Richard Marcel has got heavily involved with the ISTD in writing a salsa syllabus and I think he roped in Susana Montero too.

OP posts:
sailorsgal · 19/11/2011 20:29

Yes Mo Flex is very good and Susan Montero is fab too.

wheelshavefallenoffthebus · 19/11/2011 20:55

Time for Russell to go I think. Didn't like the echo or large dancefloor but Harry's abs made up for it Grin

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 19/11/2011 21:10

Really, really didn't like the whole show. It just didn't work.

TheHumancatapult · 19/11/2011 21:11

sorry but Harry is just a boy Grin that or im getting old he is probably nearer to my dc age than mine

ScatterChasse · 19/11/2011 21:22

Gosh, you've been chatty tonight! I'm going back to catch up, so will be back in a few minutes.

Just wanted to say I hated Wembley, far too big, lost all intimacy and character I thought.

ScatterChasse · 19/11/2011 21:30

WRT lifts, they can put them in anything that isn't ten dance now. But I don't think they really go in the salsa, you can't say it has to be compact and then swing your partner around for miles Confused

I think Chelsee was probably the best tonight, but nothing grabbed me.

Oh, and serious latin/ballroom imbalance tonight.

mycatsaysach · 19/11/2011 21:31

yy to big fat fail - all the dancers looked average & costumes were awful

not a patch on previous years - where's the jill halfpenny or matt baker or kara tointon???????

RedBlanket · 19/11/2011 21:38

Bit meh tonight, wembley just didn't work. And I didnt need reminding how long ago i went to one of those gigs they showed of Jason in the olden days!

Russell for the chop for me. we've seen it all before.

Skillbo · 19/11/2011 21:38

Dreadful show to be honest - and I also put DD to bed early to catch it all (although did still miss Robbie but looking at comments, didn't miss much!)...

Please don't use Wembley again - just too big, the camera work was shocking and there was no atmosphere.. will be interesting to see Pinot's thoughts on that! As for the dancing:

First week I don't genuinely have a favourite (other than Jason, of course Wink) and against the tone of the thread, really didn't like Harry. He just didn't really move a lot or do very much which I've noticed the last few weeks - he seems to get away with a few basis steps while Aliona flutters around but will bow to your more superior knowledge so perhaps it's just me!

I liked Chelsee's dress - I love it when they have the feather bum bits as I would TOTALLY have that on my samba/salsa dress (sorry, can't remember which one she did, but it wasn't bad!!)

Felt so sorry for Jason - such a glaring mistake as I don't normally notice but you couldn't avoid that really!

So - to go, think it could be Russells time (pretty meh, tbh and have had enough of comedy Grant), Robbie (as mentioned, missed it but didn't sound great and don't mind if he goes) or Anita (I adore Robin but that was BAAAAD!)

NewGirlInTown · 19/11/2011 21:39

Agree that show did not work at Wembley, BBC please note. Time for Russell to go, although he has been a trouper, he is the worst dancer left.
Struggling to find a winner, so will fall back to Holly, because of Artem The Divine..

Skillbo · 19/11/2011 21:43

OOh yes NewGirl - loved that Artem was back and whilst their dance wasn't great (there was a lot of gapping!) am hoping they get to stay another week as he is just lovely!

AitchTwoOh · 19/11/2011 21:44

terrible, hated wemberlee, utter keech. but i guess the bbc made out like bandits if they were selling the tix.

i heard that weird 'you've got a nasty way about you comment' from len to harry as well... most peculiar.

hope russell goes, it's his turn i think.

RedBlanket · 19/11/2011 21:55

I've only just 'got' Artem this season. He's closing in on Ian Waite as my favourite professional (pleeeeeeeease bring him back, BBC).

RedBlanket · 19/11/2011 21:57

Aitch - profits from ticket sales were donated to Children In Need. They aren't allowed to make a profit on the show. Same reason why their dial in numbers are cheaper than the ones on ITV, they are only allowed to cover costs.

Oakmaiden · 19/11/2011 21:58

OMG - just looked at the results on Digital Spy - real shock!

yesbutnobut · 19/11/2011 22:01

Seems like we - the viewers - didn't like Wembley, but all the performers seemed blown away by it. Personally I never like the Blackpool week but even that is better than tonight - they all looked like they were running like mad to cover the floor. The only ones who didn't were James and Alex and perhaps that's why they scored the highest.

LetUsPrey · 19/11/2011 22:03

After all that build up, Wembley was a bit rubbish wasn't it? Even on the pro dance at the beginning with all the extras, you couldn't take it all in and the camera shots obviously couldn't be everywhere at the same time.

Robbie - it's not usually good to go first is it? Wasn't much salsa in it. Song didn't go with Entertaining though.

Alex - good tango but even James said earlier in the week that he thinks it's the easiest of the dances (or something - wouldn't want to mis-quote him Grin). Her legs seemed a bit wobbly. Overmarked. Again.

Holly - bit yawny and she seemed to be running after Artem quite a lot, but again was that partly because of the venue? And FFS stop looking down all the time.

Anita - not brilliant was it?

Harry - good salsa but it was a bit "and step, now stop, and step, now stop".

Russell - yes, he's lovely but I'm as bored with it as I was last week.

Chelsee - loved it. The bit she did on her own at the beginning was fantastic. Loved her tail-feathers!

Jason - don't agree it was on course for being perfect.

Agree with Len re the lifts. Leeavvvveeee iiiiitttt aaahhhhhtttttt!

RedBlanket · 19/11/2011 22:03

Oakmaiden - please please don't post a spoiler!

Oakmaiden · 19/11/2011 22:04

No - wouldn't do that :) Hardly fair! Just letting people know incase they wanted to spoil it for themselves :)

AitchTwoOh · 19/11/2011 22:15

could you link to the ds thread, oakmaiden, i find ds completely impenetrable.
not sure how i feel about money going to cin, tbh, i find that a whole pile of overblown bull as well and Not What I Pay My Licence Fee For.

CaveMum · 19/11/2011 22:20

LetUsPrey yes James did say Tango was easier as it is like walking in time to music. Of course it's more complicated than that, but I see his point. Paso Doble is similar, but it's the posturing and attitude that people find hardest.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 19/11/2011 22:24

My post was already heading towards epic proportions so I was trying to think of a shorter way of saying he said he was the easiest of the dances, but that doesn't mean that it's easy, it's just not as massively difficult as the others!

But I couldn't. Grin

Oakmaiden · 19/11/2011 22:35

Link to Digital spy for those who can't wait til tomorrow.
