Anyone watching?

Entertaining as this is, I think that a serious programme on how people with learning difficulties and psychological problems confess to crimes (spontaneously or under pressure), and end up being prosecuted, would be very interesting.

I wonder if he'll ever trust his g/f again being as she was in on it all!

Georgimama · 04/11/2011 21:48

It's clunking. So clearly a fake. The questioning went from how did you get on with deceased to how much do you drink to how well did you sleep last night to is there something you want to tell us. Fake fake fake. Anyone who didn't awake whilst being carried downstairs by ten people and outside is either drugged or pretending to be asleep.

LittlePickleHead · 04/11/2011 21:48

I suppose it's fairly topical after the whole Amanda Knox confession thing as well

girliefriend · 04/11/2011 21:49

Its weird and really cruel - poor bloke Sad

Narketta · 04/11/2011 21:49

If his girlfriend did agree to this I wonder if she's still his girlfriend?

uniCorny · 04/11/2011 21:49

agree lebof
doesn't derren brown always check out these people first to make sure that they are susceptible to his mind games?

Whatevertheweather · 04/11/2011 21:49

Aaah I do not want to believe Derren is a fake.....or maybe that's just what he wants me to think Smile

Unlurked · 04/11/2011 21:50

Is anyone else finding this reminiscent of The Truman Show??

LittlePickleHead · 04/11/2011 21:50

Oh I so want it to be real, really disappointed if it's not, I love Derren (though this is the first of this series I've seen so haven't seen the possible fakery in the last two)

Georgimama · 04/11/2011 21:50

Did anyone ever see that Michael Douglas film "The Game" about fifteen years ago? So clearly where Darren, sorry Derren gets his ideas.

girliefriend · 04/11/2011 21:51

yes very unlurked.

Its not on to play with peoples minds and emotions like this, what if he went and topped himself now?!

LeBOF · 04/11/2011 21:53

Oh, I'm a big Derren Brown fan, don't get me wrong. But he would surely encourage us to be sceptical of mediums and the like, so I don't see how we are supposed to avoid looking to the most likely explanation when Derren tries to trick us, no matter what his disclaimers say. And the obvious conclusion is that this is ALL acted for our entertainment.

I asked about the nightwear thing too.

I found the Stephen Fry one interesting, the masks one a bit predictable and dull, but this is just cruel. DP's watching it, but I'm really feeling very uncomfortable about it.

LittlePickleHead · 04/11/2011 21:55

and like 'The Magus' as well - the ultimate power (think The Game was taken from that book? could be wrong)

Whatevertheweather · 04/11/2011 21:55

He would have been talked through it all very very soon after to 'decompress' him. They showed the debrief part after 'The Heist' where he had people holding up a securicor van

PastGrace · 04/11/2011 21:55

He's gone to the real police station? Are the police in on it too?!

LittlePickleHead · 04/11/2011 21:56

Hmmm they just happened to have cameras in the village police station?

LittlePickleHead · 04/11/2011 21:57

Oh OK the station is populated by actors? How did they know he would go there?

Unlurked · 04/11/2011 21:57

That was well planned wasn't it!

Sirzy · 04/11/2011 21:58

How on earth does he get away with these things?

PastGrace · 04/11/2011 21:58

Oh. [feels stupid].

I think that was really cruel.

Whatevertheweather · 04/11/2011 21:58

In the very beginning the group was told there was nothing but a post office and police station

Georgimama · 04/11/2011 21:59

this man is clearly the biggest numpty in the world ever. He hasn't even been cautioned by this fake copper and walks out of the room when he's about to "spill". What a load of shit.

Whatevertheweather · 04/11/2011 21:59

In the local village I mean
