Ladies....as we were?

OP posts:

Why do you never see Cora and Lord 6 having marital relations, or even the overtures to sexual congress?

They just lie next to each other in silk nightwear; Cora reading and Lord 6 chuntering about current events.

Cora sometimes tempts him by rubbing in handcream but that's as far as it goes. A lesser man than Lord 6 would surely have sought comfort elsewhere before now.

Bossybritches22 · 27/10/2011 17:33

Well they obviously did it at least once before the war as she was preggers for a bit!

Bossybritches22 · 27/10/2011 17:44

OOh that voiceover woman is so COMMON!!!! sniff

One never said "pardon" , possibly "I beg your pardon" but in this context they said

"What?"

limitedperiodonly · 27/10/2011 17:45

True. Once in five years should be enough for any man. And the idea of O'Brien listening at the ventilation shafts would put off the most rampant beast.

diddl · 27/10/2011 17:47

"Why do you never see Cora and Lord 6 having marital relations, or even the overtures to sexual congress?"

Why would you want to?

Animation · 27/10/2011 17:55

I would like to see his lordship's countenence at least kindled in her graceful presence.

Animation · 27/10/2011 17:58

"Her father was in debt to him.
She stole some papers implicating some politicians in a shares scandal-including her uncle-so that her father´s debt was written off."

Shock

Well she's got more clout than I originally thought.

limitedperiodonly · 27/10/2011 17:58

It's my relentless quest for realism diddl. It may take me to unpleasant places but I regard it as a duty.

The space between Lord 6's throat and the first fastened pyjama button (he leaves two undone, IIRC, which is surely an anachronism for a man of his standing) is grimly mesmeric.

It's pudgy and offensively haired - sparse and wispy - rather than firm and extravagantly hirsute or completely bare.

Have a look on Sunday.

ScatterChasse · 27/10/2011 17:58

Oh I don't know, she snuggled up to him/the headboard the other week. Then he turned the light off, and I was sure nobody could go to sleep like that...perhaps they weren't planning sleeping.

But yes, knowing O'Brien might possibly burst in and tell me to get up urgently would put me off.

limitedperiodonly · 27/10/2011 17:59

'I would like to see his lordship's countenence at least kindled in her graceful presence.'

Exactly, animation. Lovely turn of phrase, btw.

Bossybritches22 · 27/10/2011 18:04

He was kindled when Cora lost the baby, they were quite lovey-dovey just before & after that.

ScatterChasse · 27/10/2011 18:07

Yes, that was nice. He'd stand next to her and hold her hand. They've hardly been in the same room this series!

Animation · 27/10/2011 18:23

I have seen his lorship attempting to converse with her in various rooms, but he ends up talking to her back, because she is so busy - moving from piece of furniture to door very quickly.

Bossybritches22 · 27/10/2011 18:26

Petulant neglected hubby who's wife discovers she is Useful during the war, same old story all over the country!

ThePsychicSatsuma · 27/10/2011 20:28

Lord 6 has that kind of boyish pudginess coupled with old-man's grousing and now a wandering eye. poor Cora. it's a wonder she isn't scarpering off to Thomas's room, in Sybil's pantaloons

josephinebonaparte · 27/10/2011 20:29
