I watched series one on dvd, it was DIVINE, three nights, no ads, lovely.

mrszimmerman, I did too but then the time frame thing is even worse when all nine episodes are watched in such a short time, aren't they? It supposedly spanned two years and four months. In my head it only seemed to span a couple of weeks!

But if I ever did I might, say, refuse to go with DH and DS to visit relatives so that I could, say, start episode 2. HYPOTHETICALLY.

Also hypothetically, if I were to watch season 2 I would think I'd love Bates just as much as I always had and that wife of his did look like a bitch, and he was probably just calling a spade a spade.

I don't understand the loving of Bates. And WHY does his love interest have to be as young as his grand daughter would be? He's kind and silent and strong but also central casting for the creepiest, wrongest kind of bad un' in a crime drama.
And the actor Lord wotsit has eaten all the pies hasn't he?
But if Matthew and Mary have to end up together to satisfy our womantic needs, how will Matthew forgive her harlotry and criminal behaviour?

Well, with Mary & the Turkish guy, Ethel & the farer, Sybil & Bransen, I reckon Matthew is better off awayfrom them all before they corrupt him too
