Cherry's dd was 18 months Shock I though 9??? Even then dss were feeding themselves and decorating walls

Just catching up with this...

Agree the smacking parents are awful, so cruel and calculated - more like bullying IMHO. Those boys are going to have terrible issues.

The gated community mum is clearly a loon, residual PND? Although I am worried I am going to be just like here Blush

I like Cherry, I think her clueless go with the flow attitude is refreshingly honest and normal.

I felt so sorry for those two little boys getting left out in the dark and smacked. It was really hard to watch.
And I really felt for the teenager (more than her mum, oddly). It really appeared that her mum didn't like her very much and that's why she was acting up. And playing up for the cameras, obviously.

I was also shouting at the telly for Cherry to eat WITH Coco. Maybe she did try it and they just didn't show it.

I don't get the pedophile/child abductor fear. Even if you have that fear why make your kids so terrified like that woman did. In my lifetime (I'm 25) I can think of 4 incidents so these thing obviously don't happen very often. I also think these parents practically locking up their kids are probably putting them in more danger cos they spend so much time on the internet. There were the moors murders in the 60s but kids still played outside.

That teen is so obnoxious. Telling her mum to Fuck off, what's that all about? No respect for her mum whatsoever, no wonder her mum doesn't like her.

Am watching it on Iplayer

Am Shock about how scared Ellie is of the world! and her mum!

Curiousmama · 10/08/2011 14:52

Which one was Ellie?

NickRobinsonsloveslave · 10/08/2011 21:16

think she was the girl whos mumwould not let her outside to play in case she was whisked off by aliens or something

carpetlover · 10/08/2011 21:30

Just watched this on iplayer!
Who the fuck are these people who put their toddler son out in the dark? Angry And they think smacking is working but clearly not if you need to do it 3 times a week! Idiots!

DS and DD2 have never been smacked. DD1 has been smacked twice; once for deliberately running into the road and the other time for climbing up to the worktop and getting the knife block down to play with (age 4) Both times was due to me being scared but neither time did any good so I won't do it again.

Lap dancing mother I felt sorry for. She wanted so much to make them happy but just didn't know how and was all wrong in her approach. She's the sort of good but misguided mother who would benefit from parenting classes.

Hippy Brighton mother was cool and clearly had an excellent relationship with her boys who she had brought up to be inquisitive and respectful. However, I disagree with her that there is no need for them to get formal qualifications.

And why oh why was Cherry feeding her 18mth old??? They feed themselves from 6mths if BLW or maybe 9mths if not. If they'd both sat at the table with spag bol, Coco would have been far more inclined to eat.

JennyPiccolo · 11/08/2011 00:26

watching this on iplayer, Coco is too cute.

Curiousmama · 11/08/2011 11:04

Must have missed that dd then? I'll watch it on iplayer.

MyMamaToldMe · 12/08/2011 10:28

I like Cherry - she is a nice, normal person.

Shock please don't let my DD end up like that emo brat.

But it shows that we all parent differently, and I just hope what I am doing will be the best for my DD.

And yes - Coco is cute.

Vintagepommery · 12/08/2011 15:26

Watched about half of this so didn't see the smacking mum or the lapdancing mum. Admired the hippy mum in a lot of ways but wondered whether her boys will grow up and moan at her that they didn't get to school and do competitive sports and have to muck along with other kids. Also think she's pretty lucky to have gotten through life without needing any of her qualifications.
Felt v sorry for the mum of the teen - drinking vodka like that...maybe playing up to the camera but even so.
