What a FAB episode.
The bit with the kids in the bus was almost too much to watch!
Good to see Pam Ferris in a gutsier role than she's used to.
I'm sure mad Alice will be back very very soon...........

diddl · 24/06/2011 17:30

Finally got around to watching but was a bit disappointed tbh.

They seemed to catch Cameron so easily.

What´s with the Caroline character?

I don´t get what´s going on there.

And wasn´t she in Scott & Bailey the other night?

diddl · 24/06/2011 17:39

"Also, somebody please tell me, what has the female black cop been in before, its doing my head in...."

Five Days?

mumatron · 24/06/2011 17:43

diddl I was a bit suprised at how easily they caught him. i missed what they were doing with the laptop to trace him. seemed a bit of a cop out tbh.

hope the next two episodes are good. can't believe there are only 4 this time :(

diddl · 24/06/2011 17:45

They were tracing where the car had been.

mumatron · 24/06/2011 17:47

ah, well that makes sense I suppose.

diddl · 24/06/2011 17:58

Sorry, I didn´t read your question properly.

Does it connect to Sat Nav somehow?

mumatron · 24/06/2011 18:12

well, i would assume it had a tracking device of some sort on it. seemed like a bit of an old car for that, but i suppose on tv anything goes!

diddl · 24/06/2011 18:14

Yes, some GPS, but I thought that that was only possible on new(er) cars.

mumatron · 24/06/2011 18:19

must of been all they could think of to bring the story to an end. A bit crap imho.

diddl · 24/06/2011 18:24

Yes, it didn´t flow somehow.
(But perhaps that´s because I kept skipping through the Cameron/Ripley sceenesBlushGrin)

And where was the bus that he used to pick the children up from school, & why didn´t he use the car to get to it?

mumatron · 24/06/2011 18:31

i thought the cameron story was going to run through all four episodes, would of been much better i think.

vjg13 · 24/06/2011 18:37

I LOVE Idress Elba but my god Luther is a real pile of crap. Will probably watch the next two episodes though Grin

I love Luther, we're also re-watching series one on dvd. Ruth Wilson is brilliant.

CDM, the black female cop also had a big part in Survivors if you watched that? (bit gutted that didn't get a third series, I enjoyed it)

limitedperiodonly · 29/06/2011 14:00

Would someone be kind enough to do me a precis of the final bit of the first series?

How has Luther managed to avoid any questioning over the killing of Steven Mackintosh and how was Ruth allowed to take the blame without any investigation?

Are we to assume that Ruth has fled the country using only a keycard and a half-eaten apple?

Also, where has the female senior officer gone? Why does Schenk appear to have become her permanent replacement when he was brought in on a temporary basis to investigate Luther? Why does he like Luther now when he used to think he was dodgy as hell?

Like lulabellarama I'd appreciate an explanation of the blackmail/hooker plot? I must have been looking at the bookshelves at time thinking: 'I really should take some of those down the charity shop.'

I know it's tosh, but there might be a logical explanation for it all. Grin

I do like this second storyline better than the first one. However I find the middle-aged female crime boss about as convincing as Martin Kemp in EastEnders but with less fake tan.

gingercat12 · 30/06/2011 14:10

The blackmail plot is that Luther arrested the father. He was a murderer or something like that. He then died in prison. The mother obviously made Luther feel guilty and responsible, so he is trying to help them. That is how I understood it, but I was making redcurrant jam. The girl was brought up in a very cold and unloving environment, hence her revolt of selling herself into prostitution.

Have you seen the classy touch of having a lesbian romp in the background for no good reason at all in several scenes?

The women police officer must have left. I think they were all disbanded and demoted while Luther and his mate were investigated. (the one who was bent and got killed)

gingercat12 · 30/06/2011 14:16

Here is the re-cap

I am suprised but I remembered it well. Alice fired the shot, and she must have been locked up in a not-so-secure institution.

wrongdecade · 30/06/2011 15:54

Im a luther virgin never seen it before heard its good I'm set to tape next episode

limitedperiodonly · 30/06/2011 22:26

Thanks ginger. All becomes clear Confused. I may have noticed the lesbian romps but then I've also watched Game of Thrones and Spartacus: Blood and Sandals so it all melds into one these days.

Redcurrant jam, eh?

AmberLeaf · 30/06/2011 23:58

The girl was brought up in a very cold and unloving environment, hence her revolt of selling herself into prostitution.

I think that her dad murdered prostitutes, so i think her being one is to do with her feelings towards that.

gingercat12 · 03/07/2011 19:06

Sorry, Amber, I must have missed that.

I can't wait tosee the finale on Tuesday.

CDMforever · 05/07/2011 21:12

nomoreheels thankyou thankyou thankyou!
It was survivors! I loved that series too, especially Mad Max Beesley!
Am skyplussing tonight's episode as knackered out from Take That concert last nite (thought I'd just drop that in.....!)
