Yes, I love it! Flame away.....

I think most of the appeal comes from the fact that most of it is filmed 5-10 minutes from my front door and there's always the chance of recognising someone!

"seal your spray tan off with a sunbed...." Grin

Booandpops · 11/04/2011 22:36

I noticed the Adams apple!!!!! Weird

Joey Essex has to be the thickest man in Britain and how vain!!
Sam needs to smell the coffee

NettoSuperstar · 11/04/2011 22:57

I was pissing myself at Joey and the shoes.
He's the funniest thing on TV.

caramelwaffle · 12/04/2011 13:43

Joey and the shoes...bless.

(Dictionary corner)

noun: himbo, with a cute smile = Joey Essex

caramelwaffle · 12/04/2011 13:49

Oh.

Received a phonecall from a cousin of mine:

For any hardcore T'only Wahaay is Essex fans, a certain High Street bookstore is (was a few days ago) selling signed-by-cast ITV/"Essex" books, half price, in the Lakeside Branch.

NettoSuperstar · 12/04/2011 15:49

I want one!
I want the DVD of the first series too.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/04/2011 17:27

Joey and the shoes, was funny :)

he also has a terrible habbit of licking his lips/sticking tongue out

drives me insane

NettoSuperstar · 12/04/2011 19:00

I also loved him when he insisted he was not blow drying his hair and Arg saying he'd licked Lydia's arse was comic genius!

I'm in love with this show.

DD and I watch together, and constantly call each other reem/not reem, jel, talk about no carbs before marbs and now do weird Joey Essex in too small shoes walksGrin

dontmarryadrinker · 13/04/2011 10:07

I actually think some of it must be real. When Lydia was crying to Arg about how he was treating her, she really was sobbing with that choked up crying you only do when really devastated. And when the bullying Kirk was having a go at Maria he was shaky with rage. So while some if it is set up, like the nights out etc, a lot if the relationships and emotions seem real. You can tell which scenes are set up.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/04/2011 16:08

obv some is set up, they get a few drugs drinks down them, then say talk about xxx

cant wait for tonight

poor arg seems to really love lydia

idotry · 13/04/2011 16:52

I too live in the thick of it all. The majority of male youngsters in Chigwell/Buckhurst Hill are totally self obsessed and in awe of themselves, they also have a beauty regime that would put Jordon to shame.
The shorter, stubbier and more orange they are, the bigger the head.

The Chigwell uniform:
Ralph Lauren polo shirt
A man handbag
An orange aura
and last but not least the side parting glued to the side.

caramelwaffle · 13/04/2011 21:14

"Chigwell uniform..."
Grin

teenyweenytadpole · 13/04/2011 21:25

I am so intrigued by this programme, only just started watching it...how do they actually make it? do they give them a script or just follow them round with cameras? it all seems so stilted/self concious, and the places they are in look so like sets. (I used to live in Woodford Green and used to frequent Loughton and Buckhurst Hill, but it wasn't like that back in my day!)

Booandpops · 13/04/2011 23:21

Thomas the tank yogurts! ;) ;)

NettoSuperstar · 13/04/2011 23:23

I loved the yoghurts, and the trip to the tip!
He is sooo gormless but so funny and adorable.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 14/04/2011 07:07

Lydia's mam is horrible.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/04/2011 09:30

that date must have been a right piss take

to the tip?

though sam does seem rather taken by him .....

NettoSuperstar · 14/04/2011 09:49

Sam's in love with Mark still. The wedding dress thing was too set up and cringy though.

I agree, Lydia's Mum is a cow. I don't really think Arg has done much wrong and he clearly adores Lydia. Anyone who can put up with that as potential MIL deserves a medal!

Anyone else think they'll stage Kirk and Maria getting together?

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/04/2011 10:34

kirk and maria? NEVER!!!

wedding fairy was def a set up - same just gets asked to model a wedding dress, and just so happens lauren and mark are there in the audience

chipstick10 · 17/04/2011 22:52

Marks mum is going to be the mother in law from hell. What a nasty piece of work she is. Shock

GetOrfMoiLand · 18/04/2011 09:16

Mark's mum is horrible isn't she. I read somewhere that Mark was interviewed and his mother does everything for him. he is a spoilt brat. God help his future wife.

pawsnclaws · 18/04/2011 10:43

I can't work out if I've missed something or if Arg is actually meant to have done something wrong? All I've seen is Lydia bawling her eyes out and stamping her feet that he's treated her really badly - and as for that mum, good Lord what an absolute nightmare. Just imagine that shrieking at you 24 hours a day.

I also don't get the hatred of Lauren (?) by Mark's family, they all seem to despise her ("she brought it all on herself"). Mark's mum, what an evil little ratfaced nobody, with her slapped on makeup and shifty eyes. Awful family.

In fact I think the producers have missed a trick - let's get Mark together with Lydia and see the battle of the MILs - it would be hilarious.

whitegold · 18/04/2011 14:28

paws I'm a bit confused about the whole Arg/Lydia thing too??

I feel a bit sorry for Lauren - his family were awful to her last night. I think his mum is just a bit "jel" because Lauren is stealing away her little boy!

Also did anyone see Mark getting all emotional in his speech about Lauren last night? At first I thought it was sweet but then realised he gave his speech straight after talking to Sam - was he really upset about Sam?! Grin

pawsnclaws · 18/04/2011 15:50

Yes whitegold and did anyone else hear the reference to "well the wedding won't cost you anything if OK pays for it" from the Wright family? Charming.

NettoSuperstar · 18/04/2011 17:04

He was definitely upset about Sam. I think he's in love with her.
I got the book today, it's signed and everythingGrin
