What do you think of this? And when does it start? Could you stand the wait over the summer, or is it a godsend?

Oh but I think what's lovely about it is that when it ends for one, for the other, it's only just beginning :) I'm quite looking forward to the last River episode in a way as I want to go back and watch them all in her order if that makes sense.

I am getting used to the new doctor, but our whole family still miss 10. I think there is something missing in this new dr and series. Deep emotion. 10 was quite an emotional dr, who you came to really care about, but this one is too flippant, too light, too silly really. He reminds me too much of Patrick Troughton's dr which always annoyed me as a child. I preferred Jon Pertwee.
The only true bit of old emotion was Rory, hence he is my favourite character in the new series - the last episode of the first 11 series was truly his, with his centuries of waiting for the worthless Amy Pond. Needless to say, don't care much for her.

Old tardis style?

lumpsdumps · 14/05/2011 19:07

MadameOvary · 14/05/2011 19:17

Michael Sheen was the voice of House.

MadameOvary · 14/05/2011 19:18

Oops, x-post, too late!

KayHarker · 14/05/2011 19:29

Absolutely brilliant. The TARDIS truly is the Doctor's wife

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 14/05/2011 19:47

I wanted one of the old Tardises, Tom Baker maybe.

Snorbs · 14/05/2011 20:05

That's the first episode this series I've properly enjoyed. And I genuinely lol'd when the Doctor introduced Idris/Tardis to Amy and Rory then Amy said "Did you wish really hard?" Grin

I think that one is going onto my list of all time fave eppies. Absolutely loved it!!!!!

I loved this one too (although at one point I thought they'd killed Rory again). I was also so glad there wasn't a goodbye kiss at the end (like that Christmas one with Kylie ) so it wasn't cringy, just sad and very well-acted on MS's part I thought.

So funny that Amy and Rory have been married all this time and he's given them a room with bunkbeds! Grin

reality agree about River, would explain all the comments from the Dr about her interfering when he is trying to fly the tardis.

teej · 14/05/2011 20:52

Reality I missed it in the eppie due to the kids chattering but in Confidential it sounded like she did indeed say i love you

teej · 14/05/2011 20:57

also - just posted this in the other thread but i think the river/forest comment was cleverly coded to make us think about Forest of the Dead, but in fact is a warning about the future. i think she's warning him not to rely upon Rory and Amy but maybe to trust in River in the upcoming adventures?

it could well be that River is Amy's timehead child - somehow or other born in the 52nd century or whatever it is - but if so it just seems odd that she completely did not recognise Rory in The Pandorica Opens. i know she's something of a confidence trickster but surely she would give some sign if she were in the presence of her parents - even if it was not obvious to them and barely perceptable to us.

HarrietJones · 14/05/2011 21:06

Tee- where's the other thread? Feel like I'm missing some gossip!

bucaneve · 14/05/2011 21:12

Ooh that episode was brilliant :)

I especially liked the lines "did you wish really hard?" and "Rory. Hold my hand" - Amy is so much better when she's not all shouty.

Moffat did say we'd all missed something really obvious from season 5, so I reckon they've very cleverly managed to make some kind of ark/arc? lasting 2 seasons and silence in the library somehow fits in to this series as well.

Pixel · 14/05/2011 21:18

I think it must cover two seasons (how clever is that?) because I only realised the other day the significance of the Doctor now having a green sonic screwdrive. I remembered that River had that screwdriver in the library and she told the Doctor he'd given it to her.

(amazing what occurs to you when you are browsing for birthday pressies in the Doctor Who section of ToysRus Grin)

Pixel · 14/05/2011 21:19

Actually meant more than two seasons as that was DT in the library. Blimey, that Moffat bloke sure thinks ahead!

Pixel · 14/05/2011 21:20

Or was that only last season. I've confused myself now, think I'd better get back to my ironing. Hmm
