What a pile of absolute crap

Have just switched it off, bored

OP posts:
Hatterbox · 24/02/2011 14:09

I couldn't believe it when one of the 'walk ins' (who was tall, thin and utterly beautiful) was labelled as 'big boned'. What a vacuous industry.

southeastastra · 24/02/2011 15:54

oh i just watched this and enjoyed it! love seeing how other industries work even if it is vacuous.

mrsshackleton · 24/02/2011 16:06

I thought it was a hoot Blush

But then I've worked in similar industries and so was not expecting to be edified, just entertained

I laughed (unkindly) at the scout weeping when India finally slipped through their fingers

I thought India was utterly delightful. Good on her

sharbie · 24/02/2011 16:15

don't you think it looked a bit two faced tho shandy when they were all concerned about India (but really it was their investment they were worried about)

i also loved all the random small dogs about the office

mrsshackleton · 24/02/2011 16:18

I think they were genuinely concerned about India, they would be fond of her

But they'd also be bloody worried about seeing hundreds of thousands of pounds they thought were chalked up vanish into thin air Grin

kittya · 24/02/2011 16:25

But, like the boss said, it happens all the time. Those thousands are probably nothing compared to what they make on a whole. New York mustve been very scary. Models are two a penny there. Why didn't her mother go with her?

sharbie · 24/02/2011 16:26

its a laugh - i am looking forward to next weeks already

sharbie · 24/02/2011 16:29

another thing - no one at all at the agency blamed themselves for her crisis - surely they should question their methods if after all this careful grooming/mentoring/whatever this happens? no?

ifancyashandy · 24/02/2011 17:21

Her mother didn't go because India said she wanted to go on her own.

And I didn't think them hypocritical, no. I didn't think they were 'just' worried about the financial investment - I thought India's booker was interested in her welfare too. I think it's possible to be interested in making money and the welfare or your 'team'.

India hasn't left the agency, their 'methods' worked.

noddyholder · 24/02/2011 18:21

I just watched it on catch up.Know a fair few people in this world and all are tossers!(virtually) I still enjoyed it though.Glad India blew them out they would have done anything to convince her to keep going

cybilliberty · 25/02/2011 10:25

Yes when I was a model the bookers pretended to care but they really didn't

OP posts:
minibmw2010 · 25/02/2011 11:59

So they've got this 'cash cow' (a 12 year old child when they first started grooming nurturing her) and yet they send her to NY on her own, where right off the bat the greeting agency tells her not to lose any more weight, to 'do' the big shows.

Actually I thought one of the problems was that the greeting agency told her straight away not to put on any more weight, the agency owner's daughter was furious when she was stood outside and said something about how he basically told her she was overweight and I felt they were genuinely concerned for her at that moment because quite clearly from her photos the girl was underweight if anything.

Merrylegs · 25/02/2011 17:40

Yes, sorry, I meant put on. My fault, didn't edit.

one of the male models had terrible teeth

sharbie · 26/02/2011 16:37

i saw him and thought he is there as a russell brand type model

UrsulaBuffay · 02/03/2011 22:39

No one watching this week then? It is mildly annoying but am addicted I fear. They are really going to cause themselves some problems in their real working life I think by showing them all bitching behind each others backs.

Am not so comfortable with the term 'money girls'

UrsulaBuffay · 02/03/2011 22:49

Although that John guy does seem like a twat. And 28 my hairy arse hole.

noddyholder · 03/03/2011 08:07

God I love it! Love love spoiled John and his money girls! And esp love the bloody dog he is as attention seeking and arrogant as the models and the bookers he really is a fashion dog Grin

sharbie · 03/03/2011 08:15

there is another thread you two Smile

grumpypants · 03/03/2011 08:19

really makes me want to point dd in the direction of the tax office and say 'apply there' rather than let her loose at a modelling agency! (She was signed up when little for about five minutes until I kept turning up at castings to see loads of little kids with curled hair and lipgloss). Def would not want one of mine being 'mentored' from age 12.

noddyholder · 03/03/2011 08:21

Yes I wonder what they mean by nurtured more like cajoled and duped!

mousymouse · 03/03/2011 08:52

I am totally addicted.
am sooo glad now that I was 'too fat' to be a model. love to be in a real job eating loads of chocolate.
why I cannot be a model

Fetlock · 03/03/2011 10:29

i've just watched it on catchup, i was hooked even though i sat there thinking what a vile industry to work in, so bitchy and competative. i worked in the music industry for nearly twenty years and was bad enough but down to earth, very different to this, still loved it though. tbh i can't say that i thought any of them came over as being nice people, quite beautiful though, you would have to have a good 'look' even to work in the office, the thought of having to get dolled up and keep your weight down just to go into work. when i worked in recording studios and for a record company i used to drag myself into work looking like i had just got out of bed sometimes :0)

anonacfr · 03/03/2011 15:53

I'm hooked too (couldn't find the other thread, will have a look later).
I felt a bit sorry for John. The others obviously look down on him because he doesn't do high fashion.
Paul really gets on my nerves. I'd go mental if I had to work with someone like that every day.
