What a pile of absolute crap

Have just switched it off, bored

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 23/02/2011 23:12

I found it quite interesting to see how dull something that is meant to be glamorous is... so that's good

ifancyashandy · 23/02/2011 23:13

Oh well, I'll be tuning in next week!

MarshaBrady · 23/02/2011 23:13

me too. probably

drysocks · 23/02/2011 23:22

I knew i'd come onto this thread as soon as it was finished. What a load of pretentious twaddle.

The crying girl and all the sniffing was annoying. I bet it was al "...aaand action! now cry!"

Will not be tuning in next week.

Good on you India.

StableButDeluded · 23/02/2011 23:27

I actually found myself feeling sorry for the fireman and his family at the end... I mean, he was so innocent of how shallow it all is, saying about how he doesn't earn much money and he was so happy his daughter had a chance to earn some decent money. Bless!

sharbie · 24/02/2011 00:36

i liked it and i think we were supposed to think they were all shallow and self obsessed.

DrSpechemin · 24/02/2011 09:39

I thought this was hilarious - the best laugh out loud moment was the guy having his polaroids done and trying to smile - I swear that will be on Harry Hill next week!

FFS - what was with all the snivelling about Poor Iiiindia... the agency suddenly saw their cash cow floating down the river :o

DukesOfTripHazard · 24/02/2011 10:38

DH away so able to watch anything I liked. They so badly needed a proper funny b and c story to prop up the A story. I agree. Was boring and irritating.

thenightsky · 24/02/2011 10:40

I couldn't work with any of those people in that office. I'd have slapped the lot of em by the end of the day. Especially that thin one who was whingeing on to poor India on the phone.

LifeInTheSlowLane · 24/02/2011 10:46

It was dreadful, can't believe these people get so stressed about such a pointless job. Watched about 2 mins then switched over (but recorded it so I can watch it when DH is out though, I fear it may be strangely addictive Grin)

BendyBob · 24/02/2011 10:47

Hahaha I loved thisGrin India is a clever girl (thank goodness) and escaped. She blew them out - just they way they blow people away who are no use to them.

And all that weeping and snivelling...'I'm SO depressed about Ind-ya..' 'I'm so stressed about Ind-ya..' How flakey was that young woman who works there with the 'new faces'??Hmm

They hand it in a plate to Harry Hill don't they? Grin

BendyBob · 24/02/2011 10:57

And another thought occurred to me. Wouldn't you expect the person who runs a 'top' model agency to look a little more er..put together wrt her appearance.

kittya · 24/02/2011 11:47

she looks like she smokes 40 fags a day. What a shallow bunch, I bet they get paid peanuts as well. These kind of jobs always seem more glamorous than they are.

sharbie · 24/02/2011 12:39

ugh the two women in the office - soooo skinny

ifancyashandy · 24/02/2011 12:50

Sharbie, they may be naturally thin. You wouldn't say that if they were fat...

sharbie · 24/02/2011 12:58

yh right Grin

Merrylegs · 24/02/2011 13:01

They all seemed so kind of 'grungey' didn't they - the staff at Premier. I mean, their teeth my dears. Their teeth!

And the 30 year old woman blubbing down the phone to the 16 year old? What was all that about?

India definitely had the right idea. Get.The.Hell.Out.Of.There.

ifancyashandy · 24/02/2011 13:12

Hmm. I'm naturally thin. I work in a similar industry.

It can happen you know Hmm

going · 24/02/2011 13:16

India hasn't gone she is still on the books.

I wonder if the staff get bonuses based on the comission they get from models which is the weepy woman made such a fuss over India.

They made such a 'fuss' about India because thousands and thousands and thousands of pounds will have been invested in her. It is a business after all.

They will have spent months persuading editors / stylists / photographers / designers to use her. She is indeed their 'next big thing'.

So yes, they were worried that their 'cash cow' was doing the off. The same way any business would be if you'd invested £££££ in, say, a new employee - built up relationships with other businesses as a result of that employee, taken out 'Key Insurance' on them etc etc, to be told, 'Nah, don't fancy this anymore'. Like if you were a businees that'd mentored / given work ex to a kid whilst they were at University, only for them to say 'I'm not interested in your job anymore' when they graduated. You'd do all you could to try and change their mind.

And - added to that - they do care about the new girls; they know them from a young age and nurture / train them so they do have an emotional input. Plus it is an industry full of histrionics and drama, so people always react emotionally.

People get their knickers in a twist because it's modelling and it polarises opinion.

I don't know. It all seemed rather amateur to me.

So they've got this 'cash cow' (a 12 year old child when they first started grooming nurturing her) and yet they send her to NY on her own, where right off the bat the greeting agency tells her not to lose any more weight, to 'do' the big shows.

And only when it all comes crashing down and this kid says 'actually I'm a bit freaked out by all this' do they send a woman (business class) with the emotional nous of a three year old and a flip camera that the big boss doesn't know how to work (it takes double AAs and it's a point and click, hth) to try and talk her down.

Seems like someone isn't really joining up the dots here.

Where are the grown ups in this industry?

ifancyashandy · 24/02/2011 14:04

She wanted to go on her own. They offered to go out with her. What difference does it make if they business class btw? It's not public money...

And, for 'amateurs', they're making pots and pots and pots and pots of cash.

BTW, I think using 'grooming' is really inappropriate and I feel undermines its correct usage. But each to their own.

corns12k · 24/02/2011 14:06

It looked mundane. Made even teaching look appealing. Why did she need the bloody flip camera anyway?
