The fighting actually seemed quite fair and a quick way of sorting stuff out. Nobody had weapons. It's no where near as bad as drunks fighting in town centres of a Friday night, using bottles and knives.

They still wear loads of gold. At the Epsom Derby there are jewellery stands all over the ground that do a roaring trade. The men all wear the chunkiest gold neck chains and bracelets with huge pendants on them. The women wear multiple chains, earrings, bracelets.

There is HUGE money in bare knuckle fighting...for the big titles, that is. I know one Traveller who was able to buy his brand new trailer outright in cash with the proceeds of a fight (upwards of £20K). And no, I'm sure the taxman doesn't know about that income...

I know for some other communities where very big weddings are the norm, it's typical parents start saving as soon as they have a DD, and remortgage houses/sell any assets and take out loans rather than just tell their DD's they can't spend £40k on one day. I assume the traveller parents are the same.
