That is ridiculous, what an idiot!

My parents "let" me smoke when i turned 16, I had been smoking since I was 14 but tbh, I felt so concious smoking in front of them that by the time i was 17 I had quit.

RTKMonherBROOMSTICK · 13/10/2005 12:01

HE SAYS HIS sister smoked that is why he started

he smokes 3 a day AT home

OP posts:
hunkerpumpkin · 13/10/2005 12:05

And he's getting stacks of publicity for doing it - what an incentive to quit, hey?!

waterfalls · 13/10/2005 12:06

He buys his fags of someone for £2.50 for 20...............so dont give him any pocket money.

RTKMonherBROOMSTICK · 13/10/2005 12:06

she looks sort of respectable

he sounds like a bully he wanted to drive the boy up the road out of the team --- his words

OP posts:
buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 13/10/2005 12:06

waterfalls · 13/10/2005 12:07

The mother looks quite responsible oddly.

RTKMonherBROOMSTICK · 13/10/2005 12:08

OP posts:
buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 13/10/2005 12:08

psychologist says he was smoking because he was "bored" - 5/6 hours of tv a day!

buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 13/10/2005 12:10

Fern says - we're not here to judge you - to mother.
Hunker says - we beg to differ....

expatinscotland · 13/10/2005 12:10

I used to smoke b/c of boredom. Man, I smoked a LOT!

Psychology expert Kris Murrin shows families the devastating effects their lifestyle will have on their children, by fast forwarding into the children's future and showing the parents what their offspring will look like at 40. Children undergo a series of scientific tests, the results of which are processed to create incredibly detailed images of how they will progress into adulthood. This edition features the Jackson family.

Winnie - your post really brings home the fact that smoking fills the body with poison.....
I'm so sorry about your mother.

hunkerpumpkin · 13/10/2005 12:15

LOL! Yes, we're here to judge.

Is the mother, as Moondog would say, hefty of thigh and buttock?

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 13/10/2005 12:19

The mother really did seem to be doing everything she could to change things - she was the one who contacted the programme and was seeking help.

The child scared me.... needs a good kick up the arse and some sense knocked into him, let alone learning some communication skills.

RTKMonherBROOMSTICK · 13/10/2005 12:20

OMG!!!

No, no smoking allowed under my roof. My children are not really exposed to any smoking - nobody in my family smokes (db smokes a little bit but never when he is here, not even outside), none of my friends smoke. Only the outlaws smoke and when they are here they have to go out of sight of the children - I won't even let them smoke in the garden if the children are out there with them.

Filthy, disgusting habit that KILLS FFS!!!!!

WigWamBam · 13/10/2005 12:24

What annoyed me about the mother was that she seemed completely oblivious to the fact that she has to take some blame for this. She sais she couldn't stop him smoking because she's a single working mother, she couldn't tell he was smoking because she smoked and couldn't smell it, twice she said "it's not as bad as it looks; other children do it" - as if that makes it right. I just wanted to slap her and tell her that actually, if your child smokes at such a young age, it IS your responsibility.

I found watching the child very hard - it would be easy to criticise him for his behaviour and inarticulacy, but watching him sucking his thumb, constantly chewing and picking at his hands ... I wonder whether he really is as insecure as he seemed to be?

RTKMonherBROOMSTICK · 13/10/2005 12:25

The boy is the same age as DS I would be horrified if he was in his class
