I am a bit disapointed it is on so late.
It was a bit sweary but really really funny.

The subject matter was handled really well and was touching in parts.

I am looking forward to next weeks now.

MappandLucia · 20/02/2011 18:51

Have just watched the latest.

I found it really moving this week and cried for much of it .

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2011 22:10

the meetings would depress me

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/02/2011 23:38

im tempted to watch all on catch up ........

kittya · 24/02/2011 19:08

Its annoying me now that she hasnt told anyone.

clangermum · 27/02/2011 10:34

wasn't she in Tales of the City, the Armistead Maupin thing, years ago? loved those books in my twenties

kittya · 27/02/2011 11:13

I think hes just written another one. I loved them. I was abit disappointed when I went to San Fran that it wasnt full of bath houses and boys on rollerskates!! Smile

Yes, thats her. Shes done very well.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/02/2011 16:10

she has a thing for water and lobsters and her doctorGrin

clangermum · 27/02/2011 20:46

kittya - had exactly the same reaction to SF Grin

I'm going to look out for the new Maupin - perhaps her character is in it (was it mary ann singleton, or am I getting confused with someone's user name?) I'll be able to visualise the older version of her, which will be useful if it's set in present day

I remember thinking when I read the originals that the references to brands and certain other things were so 'of the moment,' they might be a complete mystery to someone reading 20 years later. And here I am Shock so it would be interesting to revisit the earlier ones

I wanted a landlady like Anna Madrigal

kittya · 27/02/2011 23:40

I wish they would remake it.

Earthymama · 27/02/2011 23:51

LL is amazing, proof as if we need it that women don't look 'worse' or 'awful' as they get older.
She was wonderful in Tales of the City. Those books were great, they were one of the many life changing things in the 80's for me, challenged my outlook on life for the better. Time for a Maupin-fest, I think. (We are currently having a Buffy-fest with 14 year old DGS)
I love the Big C, though I know I could never be as brave and outrageous as Cathy.

DukesOfTripHazard · 28/02/2011 14:11

I think Laura Linney was in the Trueman show, wasn't she?

She is also in the very good The Savagages, a film where she plays Philip Seymour Hoffman's sister.

She wears a distactingly bad dark wig in it though. Very nylonny. Odd. Not made that recently so not related to any Big C hair removal or anything.

leakyR · 01/03/2011 23:12

I love it!It's dark but laugh out loud funny. Love Laura Linney. The Squid and the Whale is a great film of hers.

She was in the Tales of the City (Mary-Ann Singleton)tv series, I also loved those books. Can recommend the two latest ones "Michael Tolliver Lives" and "Mary-Ann in Autumn" bringing their stories up to the present day. It was like having old friends back!

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/03/2011 11:50

love her dry/black sense of humour

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/03/2011 21:35

The waxing scene was funny

sharbie · 17/03/2011 23:21

just realised, she's not the one in mad about you - thought she looked different

been watching this for weeks too Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/03/2011 19:19

MelinaM · 19/03/2011 22:16

Tobagostreet · 20/03/2011 22:31

Just watched this weeks epispode on Sky+ and really cried alot when she told Shaun...only for her to make it a joke...

LOVING this show!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/05/2011 09:21

finally watched last 2 episodes and i howled

though that may have to do with rw stuff rather than marlene dying and cathy getting treatment

Alambil · 01/05/2011 11:16

I love it - watched every one.

Can't wait for the next installment

kitkatya · 03/05/2011 00:47

That's it now isn't it? What will the next series be about? I've loved it so much.

Punkatheart · 03/05/2011 09:40

I enjoyed this but I had one reservation. I have missed some earlier episodes but I am I right in saying that she has stage 4 melanoma in the drama? Because she would NOT be as fit as she is portrayed. She positively gleams with health. Maybe I have missed some element?
