SPOILER ALERT if you haven't seen Ep 6
Aargh it makes me so angry, I just have to rant!!
I just couldn't believe the end of Ep6 (although I didn't see the last 10 seconds or so). I couldn't believe the bit where Beverley was kicking MLB on his sofa. The whole angry - fighting - restrains her - looks into her eyes - snog was just revolting IMO. I guess he did say "if you want me to stop, say" to make sure it wasn't a Terry Duckworth scenario (showing my age) but it was just vile.
Beverley is such a badly-written, not to say non-written character! I would say the people who wrote that character don't live with women, don't know any women and probably weren't even born of woman.
The bit where Beverley and Carol were stoned, and Carol was talking about her affair with Merc and how guilty she felt when his wife went blind, and Beverley didn't show the remotest interest, instead she came out with the hilarious crack "I'm absolutely starving" (or whatever). Is it really that unbelievably hilarious to show people smoking dope, then getting the munchies? Is it that unheard of and amazing? I was watching Ali G last night and they did the exact same thing, except they laboured it less because they actually made more jokes at the same time. I was really moved by Carol's story, and Beverley is a writer fgs, surely she'd have asked her something about it?
I was shouting at the TV when they were in Costume and Morning was in that short suit. Beverley was making all these cracks about "we can see her vagina", The costume designer said "Tell me what you want" and he was exactly right. Of course she couldn't just say "the skirt is too short". In real life someone with Beverley's completely absent communication skills wouldn't even be serving tea in a TV studio, never mind half of a successful writing team.
The best bit, which was fantastic, was the bus full of tourists all shouting "How you doin'?" at MLB. He's been the best actor in the whole thing, apart from Carol.
