"Servants all watching as footman deliberately spilt drinks & no commotion made."

That was setup so that the family could get rid of Ribbentrop without actually asking him to leave. It was quite obvious.

"I'll ave a creme di menf, in a lady's glass please"

Could have come out of my East End grandmother's mouth ! She used to always offer me drinks "in a lady's glass".
Bought back some happy memories of the oddly coloured glass she used to save for me

Yes I know-I meant the servants watching round the door, & the fact that not one guest reacted/said anything at all.

Fibilou · 31/12/2010 17:11

we didn't see though, did we ? Although I suspect that the reaction would have been a stiff upper lip non reaction and a quiet retiral

BitOfFun · 31/12/2010 17:22

Pritchard came up with that drinks plan- he learned it on the cruise ships. Along with midwifery.

diddl · 31/12/2010 17:23

Yes, I agree.

It was the servants peering round the door that irritated me for some reason.

Orissiah · 31/12/2010 17:41

I liked it but wished it had been longer so I could get more into the characters and their stories. I loved Downton Abbey much more but perhaps this is because it was longer; I can't wait for the next series.

"One minute she's a dirty secret, next minute she's being lovingly cuddled whilst watching the Xmas tree being lit"

I missed that bit. When did that happen?

All the episodes I watched were recorded and the beeb must have been running late because it chopped the end off each recording.
