Anyone??

She has become one of her super optimistic property ladderers who we all at!

Amazing house

in the trailer for next week it was very funny she says to the camera: "oh god did I not put any make up this morning? Do I look really old?"
She is totally natural, the camera loves her - you have to give her that. She makes most tv presenters look Arch as hell.

But where is the off camera childcare? If she doesn't have at least one nanny to help with those kids then I am the Pope.

azazello · 26/11/2010 10:36

I love the house but wish the voiceover would give it a rest and actually hear how she is planning to restore it. People watching do actually understand that roofs need to be repaired/ structural work may need to be done and it isn't just a matter of choosing some paint colours.

It could have been really interesting but seems to be pretty badly edited and I now want to shoot Stephen Tomkinson.

I like SB more though, now.

Longstocking2 · 26/11/2010 10:40

but don't you think it's weird that she knew so little about weddings before buying the place?

And why not use one of the old rooms for the wedding food? Why that vile old gym miles away?

sethstarkaddersmum · 26/11/2010 10:41

the nanny was definitely mentioned in the first episode - she's in London.
I can believe they take the kids up to Yorkshire at weekends without the nanny and when she was showing the couple round with a baby under her arm it was genuine - seems fairly normal to have childcare during the week but not all the time.

Longstocking2 · 26/11/2010 10:53

but you couldn't get anything done could you? with four kids?! I mean they would be in so much danger in that place if the couple were to actually focus on the slightly preposterous paint colours.

I prefer Beeny to her husband.

Have you seen his paintings on their website?

Each to their own but lordy she is impressive. She must have nannies with her all the time!

sethstarkaddersmum · 26/11/2010 11:01

surely you would just take it in turns to be in charge of the children and do stuff?
and if most of the 'doing' is supervising decorators etc, plenty of SAHMs do this whilst looking after several children at some point!

Longstocking2 · 26/11/2010 11:04

yeah but four kids?
I mean you're changing a nappy and yr husbands looking at his blardy pots and three other kids jump off the grand stair case with spiderman caupes?

or your both painting gold on some tiny skylight?
who's got the four kids? Surely not the poor TV Researchers.

I just wish they'd be honest and Show the Help and not kind of Act as if they're doing it all, I just don't believe it.
If Granny's there then bloody show her!

sethstarkaddersmum · 26/11/2010 11:10

how does anyone manage with 4 kids though? You have the older kids shut in the safe rooms while you change the baby's nappy, probably at least one of them is in the bathroom with you helping dropping things in the toilet and you simply don't both paint at the same time because you can't.
(I have 3 not 4 but I'm sure the principles are the same. DH calls it zone defence instead of man-to-man marking....)

MyMamaToldMe · 26/11/2010 11:13

Is the voiceover guy the same person who does the voiceover for Thomas the Tank Engine?

Longstocking2 · 26/11/2010 11:13

I agree but those kids are young to be running around a building site, I bed they must have a full time nanny all the time but tv mums always sort of pretend they're doing it all, I don't mind but it is somehow dishonest imho.

sethstarkaddersmum · 26/11/2010 11:16

I agree it is dishonest when they do, it annoys me too, but I believe the Beeny. The sense of chaos and stress seemed quite authentic to me.
We need her for another webchat so we can ask.
(she wouldn't lie, would she?)

IHeartKingThistle · 26/11/2010 19:26

Did I miss a webchat???

sethstarkaddersmum · 26/11/2010 19:28

it was ages ago, years probably.

Jacaqueen · 27/11/2010 00:37

I heard her being interviewed last week on the radio.

They bought the place 10 years ago and spent some money renovating part of it. Mainly the upstairs front part including the roof. Plus the kitchen and all the bedrooms that the extended family use when they all stay.

They have been busy making TV progs and having babies whilst spending as much time as possible at Rise just enjoying it. This was never meant to be a money making venture. She just fell in love with the place and didn't want to see it go to ruin. It was only when her eldest child turned 5 and she realised that he had to go to school that it became a lot harder. I think up till then they split their time between London and Yorkshire.

She said that she thought long and hard before agreeing to her husband and children being filmed. But she realised that if they weren't in it, then everytime she wanted to talk to Graham or attend to the children, the camera would have to stop rolling and it just wouldn't work.

Parts of it are obviously contrived. I mean who on earth waits until 8 weeks before their wedding to book the venue? And just how does one go about getting their own paint range manufactured unless you go to the Dulux counter at B&Q.

By the way I have those Ikea chairs in my weekend home too.

Furball · 27/11/2010 07:21

mymamatoldme - voice over guy = Stephen Tomkinson who also does Binka.

Longstocking2 · 27/11/2010 22:14

does anyone know why they had to use that horrible gym in a building that vast? I mean surely one of the other rooms would do? Baffling!

sethstarkaddersmum · 27/11/2010 22:18

is it just the biggest room in the house? so biggest room=more guests=more money per wedding?

MyMamaToldMe · 28/11/2010 21:40

Thanks Furball.

I think they should have plastered and painted over the f-ugly brickwork in the gym, and tried to make it look just a little in keeping with the rest of the building!

whatkungfuthat · 03/12/2010 15:00

Is it me or did she look a tiny bit pg again in the last episode?

tutu100 · 04/12/2010 00:34

I thought that as well. Her boobs looked huge and she had a tiny bit of a tummy. (Sarah if you are reading this though and you aren't pregnant, please don't get a complex you look fab.)

MrsKitty · 05/12/2010 22:39

Yes, DH thought the same. He's always very observant when in comes to The Beeny Hmm.

I had to agree with him though Grin

whatkungfuthat · 06/12/2010 09:15

Further googling has revealed that she does indeed appear to be expecting no5!
