aaah I thought it was moving slowly - it's a series

dh just checked how far above sea level it is and it's over 20m so it should be ok. But it may well be on an island. Which will add to the ambience I guess!

unfitmother · 18/11/2010 21:15

I didn't realise it was a series.

Megglevache · 18/11/2010 21:34

is she pregnant again? there were four boys in that earlier scene, baby/toddler and Billy & Charlie.

So is she only baby number 5?

Megglevache · 18/11/2010 21:37

Of course she'll get masses of money/free stuff/labour in return for the publicity- how do you think property ladder worked? My friend got hundreds of thosands of pounds worth of stuff when she was on it Grin

franke · 18/11/2010 21:39

I couldn't really get into this - it's just too big. And they've already spent 100K on the roof in the last 10 years, and it still leaks Shock. And I hate the added frisson of having to get it done in 8 months.

I'll still watch next week though.

Squitten · 18/11/2010 21:43

Just watching this on +1 now. I have such respect for Beenie - pregnant with her 4th kid/newborn baby and doing something crazy like this!!

HumphreyCobbler · 18/11/2010 21:46

I love Sarah but found the constant repetition on the programme infuriating and boring.

Yes, we know it is big. It needs a lot doing to it. They have a deadline. We found this out in the first five minutes, now can we have some details of how they are going about it?

swanriver · 18/11/2010 23:01

Agree on repetition, and doommongering, I think that's the way they edit these programmes from Supernanny downwards Sad If I was builder I would not be happy.
Also Beeny/Swift a bit patronising about Northern values, all that surprise that people took posh weddings so seriously and were prepared to be pay so much for venue etc..Hmm then thinking how best to fleece...

nymphadora · 21/11/2010 09:44

Watching on 4OD now. I keep saying to dh if I saw it for £430k I would be doing some serious begging to buy it!

gizmo · 22/11/2010 22:03

Missed the start of this, how much did she buy it for? It's been on the market for aeons not surprisingly...Rise really is the End of the Known Worlde, in a part of Yorkshire that is not so much remote, more part of Norway. Hopefully that won't put the Brides to Be off.

I do love Sarah B, though: her lifestyle makes me feel very relaxed in comparison - not a feeling I'm familiar with in general. Do worry a bit that she is planning a more radical lifestyle change than she might appreciate, if she's moving from London to Holderness.

whatkungfuthat · 23/11/2010 18:41

She's lived there for 10 years though and its been falling down around them. They clearly pull it off as there wouldn't be a series otherwise.

sethstarkaddersmum · 25/11/2010 20:53

Is anyone else expecting to launch their own range of heritage paint colours next year?

sethstarkaddersmum · 25/11/2010 21:02

expecting them, that should say

Alwaysworthchecking · 25/11/2010 21:52

They'd be daft not to, Sethstarkaddersmum.

Came to it new this week and am confused: do they live in London or at Rise, or kind of split their time between the two?

Her boys are gorgeous and she and her dh seem very chilled - loved the scene where the boys are randomly hacking at trees with saws and she arrives, takes it all in and laughs. Also liked her swear-tastic breakfast. Who knew she was so foul-mouthed? Grin

MrsKitty · 25/11/2010 22:13

alwaysworth DH (who loves Sarah Beeny and has been watching this since the start) says that they use the big house as a sort of weekend/holiday house and live in London the rest of the time.

I'm not taking to the programme - all seems a little bit too set up - I mean, the couple that are going to have their wedding there, they've decided to book it only 8 weeks before the wedding date...really? 8 weeks? We booked our wedding venue about a year before hand!

BitOfFun · 25/11/2010 22:15

They already have, I think. I'm sure I saw them on the website when I looked at it last week.

Longstocking2 · 26/11/2010 00:14

here's the Rise Hall website so you can see the gym in all it's glory Hmm

why would she break all her rules and buy something they couldn't afford to do up properly and also knowing so little about the wedding market? Posh hubris.

Her brother is called 'Dickon'. Is that after the boy in the Secret Garden?

But it seems to be open for business.

But why oh why use that awful gym?

What's wrong with all the other lovely rooms, the OLD rooms? Don't get it.

Why the children with saws near all that tree felling?

Double Cousins - that is a funny thought.

IHeartKingThistle · 26/11/2010 00:20

The editing, the constant repetition and the voiceover are doing my head in. Shame as I'm quite interested in the renovation and love the Beeny!

Longstocking2 · 26/11/2010 00:22

can she be as sunny and good natured as she seems? can it be real?

Longstocking2 · 26/11/2010 00:22

Yes and the endless constructed jeopardy oh yawn

icapturethecastle · 26/11/2010 00:26

Yes - I think a paint line is definitely in the works.

I just love the Beeny - I wish I could be that dishevled. If she is like that on TV what is she like when the cameras aren't around!

IHeartKingThistle · 26/11/2010 00:34

Oh the jeopardy - aargh! Do producers really think we can't sustain interest in a programme unless there is an unrealistic deadline or a freak snowstorm or the chance it could all go horribly horribly wrong?

sethstarkaddersmum · 26/11/2010 08:46

If the couple won't agree to have their wedding there all her dreams will be in tatters.
Why? Has an evil lunatic rigged the house with explosives that will go off if that particular couple don't have their wedding there in June?

fifitot · 26/11/2010 09:44

Yes they definately have a paint range out.

I do admire her business acument though. Property developer, set up dating website, paint range, wedding venue. Talked about a mixed bag.

In amongst all this, making it on TV and having 4 kids! Well done Sarah I say.

BTW love how she is honest enough to say that she uses Ikea stuff! Some people are so sniffy about it.
