Crazy gap year

Is anybody watching this? two small boys on a boat. For year? Are they mad?

A fabulous adventure for sure but seriously... A year on a boat???????

I thought they were a great family and was impressed at how much mroe chilled the father becae after they has been at the south pacific for a while - the cleaning of the boat when he arrived reminded me of men on a sunday wahsing their cars.

I loved the dolphin part and expect their were a lot more goodparts that weren't shown. They didn't show the carabeian at all - onyl so much you can get in one program but they seemed to go with the dangerous parts like the canal etc

I don't like sailing - so not something that woudl interest me.

Am just at tonight's lot.

Why did they drive through an area which was so unsafe? What if they had got kidnapped or worse?

I just don't see how anyone could think this is a good idea...

And in a car that is so unreliable!!

I would go to Bali for a year or New Zealand.

I would go to India. Sigh. Lie on a beach for months.

I was just watching this on 4+1. I'd got to the part when it transpired the dad rolled the car because he was driving fast while navigating by watching the GPS screen rather than, y'know, looking out the windscreen at the track he was supposed to be following.

I've now turned it off because I fear my shouting at the TV will wake the children. I'm all for adventure and taking risks but driving at speed off-road in the dark and not even looking where you're going is downright criminal.

You missed the part when they broke down in disputed territory which is only supposed to be traversed in convoy under armed guard, then.

FFS! I'm glad I did miss that part. It wouldn't have been good for my blood pressure.

Mad idea, I wonder though, with all the editting they do, why they showed all the bad stuff, and I do wonder if there were not any more happy times...?

The way it looked was grim!

The mum stayed so calm, but the dad lost it and was a wreck in the end...

This one was odd - it was less cathartic to watch in that I didn't spend it all shouting at the TV but on the other hand it was interesting the way they did actually jack it all in early and realised it wasn't worth it.

WTF at not having full insurance (although presumably that would have cost £1000s - but perhaps not more than a second 4x4)

The thing which seems to be becoming clear having watched the first 3 is that kids (above the age of toddlers) seem to be far happier and get far more out of it in environments with other kids - eg the 1st family in the jungle and this week's family at the orphanage...

...next week's looks really strange - seems to be more about the mum than the kids from the trailer...?
