OMG Shock

CarGirl · 13/09/2010 21:45

And now they've nearly killed themselves - great!

poppymouse · 13/09/2010 21:45

Aah now you get your just deserts. The poor kids, might have to go back to Dragons' Den

semicolon · 13/09/2010 21:46

Words fail me.

The stupid bastards.

MamaChris · 13/09/2010 21:47

why didn't he look it up on the computer if he wasn't sure? how bloody stupid!

Mum72 · 13/09/2010 21:47

Priceless!! How to make a complete tit of yourself on TV!!

MamaChris · 13/09/2010 21:48

I mean, before they ate it rather than after.

Acekicker · 13/09/2010 21:51

Jesus! I'm fighting the urge to use the shock emoticon as I've already done that each time I posted but wtf?!

Idiots, that surpases even last week's 'we don't need those nasty chemicals, just homeopathy for us thanks'. 'We caught it in the sea so it MUST be fine'...

...also I wouldn't leave a kid who had ingested neurotoxins sleeping, I'd be waking him up to check he was asleep and not in a coma.

Acekicker · 13/09/2010 21:53

On a lighter note, until they started poisoning themselves, I'd been idly wondering how often you get to have sex when you're doing 4 hour night watches and have two small kids. I came to the conclusion that they probably can barely tolerate each other after weeks on end on the boat so it's possibly not an issue?

Tootingbec · 13/09/2010 21:53

Actually feel sick at the thought of being in the middle of nowhere with young kids and food poisoning -not sure I can watch anymore.........

poppymouse · 13/09/2010 21:53

Sandwiches on the Pride of Calais after a day or two on the beach at Le Touquet looking better by the minute. The beauty of knowing you'd be home in about three hours if you wanted.

sailorsgal · 13/09/2010 21:56

I'd definitely be flying home. Grin

poppymouse · 13/09/2010 21:58

The sun cream issue alone would have been enough to put me off.

sailorsgal · 13/09/2010 22:01

"They have extended their trip to 2012"

They must have loads of dosh.

Acekicker · 13/09/2010 22:07

I'm still gobsmacked at the neurotoxins and the fact they left the kid sleeping. I'm not entirely convinced that a lack of temperature doesn't mean your internal organs aren't slowly shutting down...

So no follow up on them though in the New Year on E4 Sad

Exactly how many times do you reckon they'd watched The Incredibles on DVD by the time they had the birthday party?

FrameyMcFrame · 13/09/2010 22:14

Arggh that was quite disturbing. I can't quite fathom how silly they are, feeding their young children poisonous fish.
Too much money and not enough sense!
I'm glad I'm an over cautious parent, and would never dream of doing anything like that!

MrsJessRabinovitch · 13/09/2010 22:24

I am watching on +1 & am already Shock just told DH am not sure I can watch its making me feel sick-the thought of DS1 & 2 being scared & trapped on a bloody 40ft boat is bonkers :( Not sure i can get my head around why they would do this-I don't think its being overcautious framey just sensible!!! Grin!

BitOfFun · 13/09/2010 22:26

I can't think of anything worse than being stuck in a confined space with two toddlers and an arse of a husband.

FrameyMcFrame · 14/09/2010 09:46

the bit where he told his little boy to shut up when they were all up in the night with food poisoning! Shock
What an unpleasant man.

Avocadoes · 14/09/2010 09:59

Why are you all focusing only on the negatives? There were some lovely moments and by tthe end of the programme the Dad was much more chilled and was really embracing family time. The boys looked happy and secure and the mum's doubts had faded completley.

The programme editors clearly focused on the frictionand danger. They hardly mentioned the months the family had spent on land preferring to portray the trip as two years stuck in a tiny boat together. For example by the time they got to the Panama Canal it was mentioend they had been away from home for 8 months but we saw only the days they were mid ocean and suffering.

sailorsgal · 14/09/2010 12:00

Avocadoes, there were probably a lot of positives that we didn't see in the programme but there were some very hairy moments which I soppose most of us would think it was too risky especially with small children.

I thought they should maybe have had another crew member with them as the dad seemed to be doing most of the watches and must have been exhausted. (probably why he seemed so grumpy).

Fizzywinelover · 14/09/2010 15:53

We watched this also, and I just thought 'those poor kids' stuck on a boat with no way to really run around.

Bloody nightmare.

The other problem is, that with a multi-hulled boat like that, I believe that if they capsize you can't get them the right way up again. So, much more dangerous than a regular mono-hull.

Like sailorsgal, I felt pretty sure that there was another cewmember there as well... perhaps one of the camera crew was a sailor, because it did not SEEM as if the mother had much experience, and you really needed people knowing what they are doing in that scenario.

Oh... and Envy at the mother in a bikini after 2 kids. Gorgeous figure.

Noellefielding · 14/09/2010 22:50

Lifejackets, why weren't they wearing them on the boat more often? Weird.
Dad seemed to be a very able sailor considering he also appeared to be a bit of a moronski.

I thought the mother was aMAzingly chilled out considering the situation. I mean weeks in a confined space with such young kids.. and she seemed to be taking 'watch' when she seemed to have not that much clue how to sail the massive thing "Darling why does it have to be so complicated?".
Impressive woman, but he was a bit of twatty imho.
no offence but too much self love from him.
