I'm feeling nostalgic and trying to remember shows that I loved as a child/teen.

What were your favourite programmes? I'm not looking for children's programmes but soaps, comedies, dramas, gameshows etc.

90s I was just married can't remember much TV

  • Some good drama This Life Jakes Progress and Crow Road stand out
rubbersoul · 23/08/2010 17:58

I was reminded of Blossom the other day- I read something about Joey Lawrence and I was like 'oh yeah! I forgot about him!'

I used to love stars in their eyes and the cosby show, ooh and the crystal maze

southeastastra · 23/08/2010 18:17

network 7 bebesequin?

i was also thinking brookside and maybe twin peaks

LetThereBeRock · 23/08/2010 19:13

The Crystal Maze was great, although I hated it when Richard O'Brien played that bloody harmonica.

I loved The Krypton Factor too.

And yes to Stars In Their Eyes.

The Adventure Game
Blind Date, but only while getting ready to go out clubbing
Press Gang - I know it was a kids' show but it was bloody brilliant

Was thinking about Brookside last night actually and how groundbreaking it was to deal with marital rape. I think the way Sheila Grant's story was handled was amazing, compared to the cheap shocks for kicks that soaps trade in these days.

rubbersoul · 23/08/2010 19:21

ooh Krypton factor! Loved it!

sharbie · 23/08/2010 19:23

this life?

rubbersoul · 23/08/2010 19:24

I remember watching brookie when I was younger and actually being terrified by the trevor jordache storyline- was gripping and again dealt with some serious issues

I used to love baywatch (?!), gladiators and bread as well

LetThereBeRock · 23/08/2010 19:31

How could I forget Gladiators? Wolf was my favourite, and I had a crush on Trojan,at least I think it was Trojan.

My so called life - with Claire Danes and Jared Leto.
Was so brillaint at tapping into that achey, teenage self-obsession but in a really lovely way. So glad we had that rather than Skins or Hollyoaks

AmazingBouncingFerret · 23/08/2010 19:40

I was going to say My So Called Life!

Vic Reeves Big Night Out. Very silly comedy.

horseyrider · 23/08/2010 19:41

I loved:

Baywatch
Peak Practice
Londons Burning
Beverley Hills 90210 (when they showed it on ITV)
Noels House Party (Apart from Mr Blobby)
Brookside
The Chart Show

Oh the memories!

LetThereBeRock · 23/08/2010 19:49

London's Burning was great. I'd love to get it on dvd.

Anyone for Buffy?

FallingWithStyle · 23/08/2010 19:53

Cracker. I LOVED and wanted to be Panhandle. She was very cool.
Looking back it was pretty gritty though - the rapist who sat in a bath of bleach and panhandle being attacked - may have been part of the same storyline?

FallingWithStyle · 23/08/2010 19:55

I liked Heartbeat early on before it went shit.
Remember crying buckets over the cow culling storyline - it was the music that did it, possibly Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harem.

bluebump · 23/08/2010 19:57

Oh I loved My So Called Life and Party of Five. I actually watched most of the things listed here, what a telly addict!

LetThereBeRock · 23/08/2010 19:58

The music for that scene was Nights in White Satin by The Moody Blues.

I can't really remember any other storyline in Heartbeat, but for some reason that one is stuck firmly in my mind.

Oooh yes Cracker was amazing. LIVERP OOL Liverpool FC with a very scary Robert Carlysle.
Brookside had such an influence on me I went to Liverpool Uni.
The Chart Show, waiting to see if the Indie chart would come on.
Bliiiind Date.

LetThereBeRock · 23/08/2010 20:06

I never missed The Chart Show.

I loved Soldier,Soldier, even if it did give us the musical 'delight' that was Robson and Jerome.

LTBR - you're right! I've always got those two songs mixed up, they were next to each other on a video of The Hits of 67 my mum used to subject us to Grin

angelene · 23/08/2010 20:38

This Life
Brookside
GBH
The White Room
Grandstand

Brasso4 · 23/08/2010 20:39

I loved Soldier, Soldier and Press Gang too.

Does anyone remember TV101? It had a very young Matt le Blanc and was like a US version of Press Gang - I loved it.

Brasso4 · 23/08/2010 20:39

OOOh forgot This Life - it was fab!
