Anyone who's dipshit enough to buy a £250,000, 18th century house without bothering to do a structural survey before purchase deserves a swift kick in the jacksie, not help from a show.

What a pair of dumbasses.

you have a lovely family area now. Kitchen is gorgeous. I also adored the bedding / bunk unit in the boys' bedroom.

lowrib · 17/08/2010 21:05

Is Sarah Beeny a Tory? I must know!

DP say she must be, all estate agents are tories.

I say no, she's far too nice! I like Sarah Beeny, please don't say it's so!

GrendelsMum · 17/08/2010 21:31

Is Nick still looking at this thread?

If so, I'm intrigued - how did you get the loft conversion done so cheaply? I thought it looked very good. Was it done using largely modern materials? For example, what did you use for the insulation, what did you use for the plaster, and so on? It looked suprisingly light at the end - was it the one original window re-opened plus a conservation skylight, or was there a second skylight that we couldn't see?

I agree that the mortar for the pointing looked wrong - is that why it was only partially done?

Presumably the editors thought that discussing listed building status would distract from the main thrust of the programme, so that was why all that was ignored.

Fluffy, I'm so pleased that your house worked out. It's gorgeous. It was painful to watch parts of this programme. Mr Fluffy is a 'keeper' too. ;)

mousymouse · 18/08/2010 08:02

oh, fluffy. love your house!
you must be really proud of yourself and your dh for ending up with this marvelous house.
I hope the crack has not reappeared or the insurance paid for this foundation thing. must be so scary for you.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/08/2010 08:54

how unlucky were you !!! having a house built on the bog - the people who put the extension up should be sued,as techinally their fault

hope if does move again then insurance should pay out for it

wow - have to say mr fluffy is a man in a million!!!

he worked so hard to get your house in a lovely condition and have to say the end result was lovely

jetcat · 18/08/2010 15:22

We were as much in the dark as anyone else...I had a cushion ready to cringe behind...maybe i should have had a big glass of wine too..but opted for sharing the kids popcorn instead! lol

Fluffy1977 · 18/08/2010 18:16

moomin my email is [email protected]
:-)

TheCrackFox · 18/08/2010 18:21

Fluffy, did you find Sarah Beeny's advice helpful or did all your filming commitments get in the way of sorting out your house?

54321nick · 19/08/2010 02:36

Hi, just came back from a family trip to dublin, had to drown my sorrows with guiness after all the abuse!!!, so have'nt seen the latest programme. Will have a look 2mrow fluffy!!It sounds like it's gonna be good!!
moomin - email address is [email protected].
Grendelsmum - The loft conversion should have cost an absolute packet!!,we spent much more than 5k, but with the intervention of T.V etc.. builders do deals!, which has upset us a great deal as they were not given any credit within programme. There WAS a second conservation roof light and the original gable end window re-opened. The pointing was done absolutely to conservation/listed building spec by a professional stonemason who specialises in church's and grade I listed buildings but again not shown!!!!.. I was'nt being lazy not doing this, but just wanting it done properly and looking as it should.

Fluffy1977 · 19/08/2010 11:12

JetCat I will try & find the tin & get you the code...it's a dulux paint..one that you get mixed up from the cards. :)
Nick hope you had a good break :)

Fluffy1977 · 20/08/2010 09:06

CrackFox...let's just say she was a lovely lady but didn't tell us anything we didn't already know. She seems to us just to be "the face" of property shows. Don't get me wrong I could be totally wrong as she didn't actually spend that much time filming compared to the amount of filming we did in total..she obviously knows her stuff but this show was more about specialists than property development :)

54321nick · 21/08/2010 15:37

Hi Fluffy, thanks had a lovely break. Enjoyed your programme!!!!. I agree with you, SB, a very nice lady but more just fronting the show than getting involved. There filming for the bad news and then back once work completed. We had the impression the programme was to be more educational for the viewer and showcasing tradesmen/specialist solutions in overcoming unusual problems etc.. not a 'DIY makeover' show. But hey, thats the power of editing!!!.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/08/2010 01:31

Will it be on ch4 catch up online?
