15 yr old ds and finding testosterone

My ds came to me last night and said he found a used/opened vial of testosterone b. He found it lodged in the bathroom sink and brought it straight to me. I have asked him if it was his and if he has been taking them and he vehemently denies it. The only other finger points to my husband either placing it there to make it look like my ds is taking them or my husband is using this
I know my husband will deny it being him in which case I don’t know where I can go with this. It hasn’t just fallen from the sky 😩 I had a sleepless night last night and discussed it this morning again with my ds but he is adamant it is not his.
he has in the past discussed steroid usage and knows my stance on it as I’ve been very clear with him how dangerous it is at his and really at any age.

Does your husband have form for gaslighting?

Coco852 · 15/09/2026 23:17

Many men take testosterone now, it feels like trend. Lots of private companies/pharmacies offering at home tests and testosterone replacement. I’s kind of like your son finding an HRT patch in the bathroom sink.

I'd be less worried about the testosterone and more worried about the communication issues

If dh has got issues with substance's then I’d go with him being the culprit

You wiukd surely know if you said to dh
why have you out the vial in the plug hole , did you think it would go down it ?
If he gets defensive and straight away blames ds ???

why would you think ds would take testosterone and would he have money for it ?

My ds has mentioned he is interested in bodybuilding and when he’s older taking steroids so he knew straight away what it was.
now I have had a few days to process it I feel a bit calmer but it’s still playing on my mind as to how it got there. I have asked my ds to keep it between us for now and told him I believe him that it is not his. However now I’m wondering if my son thinks that it is my husbands and if he is doing it then it almost gives him the green light to try it/take it.

I just feel there would be no benefit or point in asking my dh about it as he will deny and blame my son and it will cause world war three

But he could be taking it because it’s medically prescribed if he has low testosterone? Why can’t you ask him?

Brunolarge · 16/09/2026 13:00

He won’t have had it perscribed he hasn’t been to the doctors.

Are you scared of your husband?

Brunolarge · 16/09/2026 13:08

No not on a physical level. I think I’ve just learned to keep quiet on certainly things

You can talk to your son about this. About why he might want to take supplements. Is he small for his age? Talk about all the changes he is likely to go through, how growth spurts can see smaller boys suddenly shoot up. How he can be healthy and give his body the best nutrients.

Find some positive role models to talk about with him. Fitness, body building, strength are a massive subject, there will be loads of information out there. Does your ds do any exercise? Weight resistance is a great way to strengthen bones and muscles. Does he have any hand weights? This could be a great opportunity for you to chat with your son about body positivity for boys and men. Not in a heavy talk, just general chit chats, 'oh I saw this on youtube the other day, you might be interested' sort of thing.

he weight lifts at the gym already and goes every day after school. He is a big lad and has been going for 6/7 months now and he has got muscles and seems intent on being a bodybuilder in the future. He watches/reads a lot of stuff online about the lifestyle and what it takes to get to that size. It is worrying me, I do try and educate him on just eating healthy but he counteracts everything I say with stuff he has seen online so it goes in one ear and out the other. He is very strong minded and seems to believe everything he sees online. He takes creatine and pre work out drinks at the moment but I was hoping it would stop there.
